5.5 Hours for Make Up?

My wedding is this Saturday. My HMUA is coming to my house to do my hair and make up, and make up only for 3 others. I told her we needed to leave the house to head to the ceremony by 1:30pm, so she said she’d need to be here to start at 8am. Is it normal to need 5.5 hours to do 4 people’s make up and one person’s hair? I want to give her the time she thinks she needs so we don’t end up scrambling at the end, but I just hadn’t planned on incorporating so much getting ready time into my wedding day.

We are planning 45 minutes per service per girl. So we are getting ready from 10 AM - 4 PM since we have 13 women. My HAMU will take closer to 2 hours.

Yep! The day for the ladies always starts early. She might finish in about five hours, but seems to be giving her self some wiggle room.

I take my bridal pictures in September and for my 6 PM session my HMUA wants me at the salon at 2:30 to get started

If it's just her then yeah that seems right. If she had an assistant no that's probably too long cuz the timing would be split.

Also keep in mind, the HMUA will do your hair and makeup last. So the HMUA will show up at 8 a.m. but that doesn't mean you'll get yours done at 8 a.m. You might get yours done closer to noon.

Be really careful and offer extra time. My makeup Artist did hair for 3 women, 3 guys, and makeup for all 6. Said it would take 2.5 hours. We ended up losing an hour of our reception time because she took 1.5 hours longer...
