5 months out...feeling discouraged

Melissa, on April 2, 2021 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I posted previously about having issues with my venue. I am concerned that I will lose this venue. The contract very vaguely states either party can cancel at any time for any reason up to 60 days before. I didn't think I would find myself in a predicament where the venue would be unprofessional, I am so caught off guard by the whole experience. My wedding planners are concerned about the behavior of the venue coordinator. My wedding planners are suggesting considering other venues. I am 5 months out with all of my vendors locked in. Most of my vendors travel my cake person does not. I am trying to find a backup venue in the area. And I don't want to lose this venue, I love it. I just don't want to be screwed over if the venue coordinator decides I've made her mad. She's proven to be unprofessional in her behavior. She does not have set prices for her add ons and doesn't like it if you don't want to use them. I am no longer interested in planning the wedding, I want to elope because all I care about is marrying my best friend. I won't do that because I know I am just frustrated right now and it will pass (hopefully). I just am shocked by how unprofessional this venue is considering they've been in business for so long.

My personal Experience, I too have felt that my venue doesn’t have consistent prices for their “add-ons” or their decor. My worry for you would be that you may go to yet again another venue and you may find yourself running into the same problems. Vendor coordinators trying to finagle the numbers to make you pay as much as possible, or some of their little hidden fees etc. But at the end of the day if you feel like it’s more than just them trying to make more money off of you, and if you feel that the coordinator is truly just unprofessional and vindictive and then I would get out of there as quickly as possible. Do you have any venues in mind?
How many venues have you actually looked at?

It is a small town and I think she is very set in her small town ways. I am coming from a bigger city and having my planners support my ideas. In a completely professional way of course. The venue coordinator pushed back in an unprofessional way. I am truly concerned about her behavior. So are my planners. The coordinator sent a passive-aggressive email saying we are now to deal only with her assistant. I am giving it a week for my planners and the assistant to figure out if they can be cohesive. My planners are concerned that she'll change the quote up on me. Since there is no set pricing. My planner reached out to about 10 places yesterday. We have a few backups in mind. I don't even know how many venues I considered (too many to count) and spoke with before picking this one. (And the one before that this is my second venue change- thanks COVID).

    Melissa,
I am sorry that you are going through this! And I would feel the same way you do if she is being unprofessional in that sense.. that is why I opted into a small wedding because 1) I just wanted it to be more intimate, 2) I wanted to save money so my FH and I can splurge more for our honeymoon and future home projects, and 3) we wanted to make it about US, and not for others.

I agree with DJ, if you really have a bad feeling about it then I just say let it go because there is no sense of security and you should NOT have to be dealing with that when you are getting married. You are suppose to be enjoying this experience! Make sure to have back ups in mind. Just know at the end of the day it's about you and your FH on what you guys want Smiley smile
