5 weeks 10 lbs

Amelia, on January 16, 2013 at 5:11 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 23

It is exactly 5 weeks until my wedding and I have to lose weight! Does anyone have any suggestions? I only have 5 weeks! I'm thinking about trying the Paleo Diet. Has anyone out there tried it? How were the results? I'm really needing ideas, help and motivation!

Like @Amy V. said plenty of water, no processed foods at all & some form of excercise. Leave the suagr alone try truvia or NuNaturals liquad stevia (no aftertaste). Kepp your sodium no more than 1500mg, carbs at 50-80g. You should be able to do that for a few weeks. Good luck!

IMO the Paleo Diet is a fad. Some people like it but its really not a balanced lifestyle and I dont care how many people claim it is. Its not.

    Agree with Amy.

Try replacing a meal with cereal (Not sugar loaded). Eat lots of salads, careful with dressing amount. Replace meat with veggies or beans and of choose fish instead of chicken. Thats plenty of time to lose 10lbs!

10 lbs is going to do a number on how your dress fits.

Will you be able to get it into the seamstress in time to get it altered and back?

Talk to your seamstress before you go crazy trying to lose weight.

Before I became a personal trainer I was 60 lbs overweight. Anyone can lose between .5 lbs to 2 lbs a week safely if they reduce their calorie/carb intake.

Depending on your Body Weight and height, most women who stick to a 1,200 - 1,500 calories / 50-100 carbs a day can lose about 10 lbs in a month. Some petite women can eat 1,000 and be good if your taking vitamin/mineral supplements to the mix. However this calorie intake is only good if your JUST dieting alone. If you add exercise to the mix you need to add some calories back in.

EX. It's the end of the day and you ate 1200 calories

You exercised that night and burned 300 calories

Your real intake is 900 calories = your deficit is really low. You would want to add back in 100-300 calories back to be level.

Eat what you want within reason. Think about long term results and not short term. When you think your hungry, you might just be thirsty, so drink plenty of water. Don't eat 2 hours before bedtime.

Great advice Leilani. My fiancé and I are in middle of the 3 day military diet. He wanted to do it to jump start his weight loss. I'm doing it just for support along with him. I will let you know how effective it is. First day was ok, second and third day coming up..... Will let you know the results. It states you can lose realistically 7-10lbs with this diet

What is the military diet? I think I've tried that? Does it involve cabbage soup? I did that last week and nothing changed for me. Even though I followed it to a T and exercised the whole time Smiley sad

Water + anything that you can simply wash and eat from the fridge.

I would try focusing on de-bloating rather than losing pounds which may not physically reflect right away. Stay away from sodium, drink a ton of water.

Try juicing. The FH and I tried it for a day. When we got to juiced kale it got ugly. I don't think I've ever seen my FH be so depressed. But...it works.

I work with nutritionists... Avoid fad diets like the plague. Best thing you can do for yourself is like Amy said... Water water water and exercise. Cut back on sodium and eat a balanced diet. The hardest part is just doing it. Stop contemplating and go girl go!

The Paleo diet is not a fad, it's science. I've read a couple books about it and it obviously works for lots of people. Bottom line, cut out processed foods. Eat what comes from the earth, simple enough!

Has anyone ever tried those slimming body wraps? What do they do? Do they actually work? There is a groupon for one now and I'm considering it. I work out for at least an hour every day and have really changed my diet. But I'm still not seeing any results! It's so frustrating!

My hubby and I are on a weight loss trip to loose our "added married weight" before our vow renewal. In December, we changed our eating habits (eliminated pork and fast food, replaced ground beef with ground turkey, and eating chicken, fish, or turkey in place of red meats), increased our water in take, and started a heavy workout regiman (we burn between 300-1000 calories per hour, depending on the workout). He's lost about 10 lbs and I have lost 7 in the last 2 weeks. We work out 5-6 days a week and my calorie intake is between 1000 and 1500 daily (not including calories burned).

I recommend that you cut out red meat, dairy, sugar, all white products, and fried foods and drink lots and lots and lots of water only...no diet sodas or fruit juices (unless they are all natural - Sprouts has a GREAT apple juice that is literally just the juice from apples). This does NOT translate to starve yourself; it just means...cut out the bad and "eat from the earth" as RayRay mentions above. There are tons of great health, natural substitutes. Oh yeah... exercise - cardio strength training. I think you can drop 10lbs in 5 weeks doing that... if not the full 10, very close to it... start now, be consistent, keep your goal in mind and let that help motivate you to stay on track. Best wishes in reaching your goal - you can do it! Smiley smile
