50 days until wedding, no wedding dress yet..

Sfam, on November 1, 2019 at 9:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
I have no wedding dress... and there’s 50 days now!!! I’m finally going to go look because my mom procrastinated and so now I’m just going with my Mother In law and sister in law. Although my mom still doesn’t want me to buy my dress yet with them!!! And now online????..
we still have to buy decorations (which are Christmas decor because of Christmas theme) so they’re finally now coming out.. and maid of honor (sister in law) has to get her dress ordered and find one. The best man too.... same with my fiancé, we haven’t gotten much done because
money.. everything was going smooth ! And now there’s 50 days and we all have to have everything ready by 36 days!.. so stressful !! When I think about it just stresses me out sooo much. Like 36 days and we still have lots to do

Just make a list in order of importance and start banging it out girl! I would definitely get on that dress ASAP! If you are paying for your dress and you find one while shopping with your MIL and SIL, I would purchase it!! At this point, you will have to purchase a sample dress off the rack, and alterations typically take a month or two.

I was engaged 65 days before my wedding, and didn’t have a good idea what I was going for until 50 days.

    It’s doable!

Stay calm, find a Kohl’s nearby. They have men’s suits at GREAT prices (check out Haggar), and hit up a bridal shop to just try on all the styles (keep your mind open) and then scour the internet for the dress you loved, and you might find it! Of not, keep in mind ordering from a bridal store can take a few days/weeks to come in, and alterations can take a bit longer than that.

its 5 days until my wedding and I’m picking up my dress from alterations today! It’s doable!

Definitely check online for your last minute gown also! I highly recommend Lulu's! Good prices, good quality, and easy free returns.

Make sure your consultant only puts you in dresses you can walk out with and alter immediately!

First things first, take a deep breath and relax! I agree with making lists and figuring out what's most important and working down the list. It will all come together! I'd get the dress first. Tuxes or suits are a lot easier to get in a short time. Stillwhite.com is a great place to find a dress. Other brides sells their gowns at great prices! I'd search online for a seamstress near you and call them to make sure they can fit you in. I planned my entire wedding in 8 weeks, had about 6 by the time I got my dress. So it can happen!! JCPenney has great suits for very reasonable prices, my husband gets all his from there. You can find nice bridesmaid dresses at David's Bridal or try a department store. Rent The Runway is an option too! You get to pick 2 sizes in a dress and a free backup dress. I'd start by finding a wedding dress and working from there.

This is definitely do able! I had an unfortunate mishap 30 days before my wedding where I had to go and get a new dress. I went to David's Bridal (I know not everyone's favorite) I walked in, explained I needed to buy off the rack and altered in less than 30 days. I ended up with an amazing dress that was less than $500 and WAAAAAYYYYY better than my original dress I picked out.

you can totally do this, good luck!

I would read the book, "A Practical Wedding." There are so many things that I thought I had to do a certain way, but you don't. I FaceTimed my best friend and my dad in to the dress shopping. I ended up buying a white, actual wedding dress from Ollie's Outlet store, but then met the district manager from the bridal store next to my house and haggled to buy the red one that they had been using in Christmas displays since I was 16 (because it was my dream dress, and I had said "That's my wedding dress!" every time I drove past it from the time I was 16.) You can buy your dress anywhere. Actually, right now is a great time because all the stores are selling or clearancing out homecoming dresses. I bought all of my bridesmaids dresses from Windsor in the mall that way.

We are doing a moderate budget wedding, with a lot of DIY. Things like flowers can be bought pre-arranged as Christmas boquets from Michaels. The most important thing is spending only what you are confortable with only on what you really want, or only on what you really don't want to deal with. (We are buying invitations because I am not paper pressing 200 invitations. F*** it, I'll pay somebody else to do that.) We are debating buying an iPhone and handing it to a bridesmaid to take photos, and skipping the photographer. We found a venue that decorates for free, but we are NOT cutting our guest list. We will cut costs wherever else we feel like, but we are NOT limiting friends and family. Do what you want, because it's your wedding.

Also, remember it's your wedding - not a parade. It doesn't have to have everything and it shouldn't be a spectacle. It's about you getting married, and if you get married in your favorite sundress, or without flowers, or have the reception at your house - big deal, you're still married to your dream man. I wish you all the best happiness and the best luck!

If you still need a dress, or if anyone else needs one last minute, I would highly recommend BHLDN. My dress is from there and it only took like 4 days for it to be delivered after I tried it on.
