I don't think we can do it I can't find any diy catering halls or venues bc that would help me a lot if I could bring food bc everyone in my family cooks that is the main problem food then also maybe it's me the date is July 20 2019 a Saturday I hear the prices are more but if I move it I Sunday some people will complain about missing church my gosh I'm catching serious anxiety I know your supposed to hire someone to do this for you but why when I am capable of looking into things myself do if there's anybody who knows good places feel free to reach out

First of all do NOT make your family cook... Get it catered. BBQ or Italian is a less expensive alternative. Second of all cut your guest list, see if there are any all inclusive venues, sometimes they are less hassle for you!

No self catering. You have two years to save. Cut your guest list.

Get that budget figured out, don't make your family work on your wedding, don't poison your guests. There's a difference between being frugal and cheap, guess which side you're on.

Your anxiety will lessen considerably if you cut your guest list, host a smaller event within your budget, and allow a caterer to take care of the food for you.

Check out some local parks - pavilion rentals can be pretty cheap. There are cheap alternatives, and mission BBQ if you have them in your area is a great cheap caterer!

You can do it if you have 25 guests MAX. About half of your budget should go towards your venue/catering.

Self-catering doesn't work out for anyone involved -search the term on these threads. No matter what you think, food is the #1 thing people WILL actually remember about your wedding and if it's cold, gross, flavorless or worst of all, makes people SICK you won't ever hear the end of it from your loved ones.

How many people are you looking to host?

Can you save more than $5000?

Would you consider catering over making your family cook?

    Holy run on sentence Batman.

    Discover punctuation.

Invite 25 people. Go to a nice restaurant.

Start saving now. Don't make your family work.

Also gonna add if you guys are stressing about saving up $5,000 over the next 22 months you might wanna reconsider a wedding altogether and just go to the courthouse to get married.

Or be looking at ways to increase your income and/or decrease any debts so this isn't such a stressful financial endeavor for you both.

I understand your anxiety, but you have a long time to save. FH and I decided on 2019 in order to have plenty of time to pay for everything. 2 years is a long time to plan ahead financially. I'm not sure what part of the country you live in, but I have not seen a venue that inexpensive where I live. And I could be wrong, but I think most venues require an insured caterer for liability reasons.

Do you have a family member with a large backyard you can use? I would still hire a caterer no matter what though.

You don't want to deal with food. Let professionals deal with that and then you don't have to worry about it. You need food and booze and a comfortable venue. That's it. 5000 is not doable for 150 people. But it's totally doable for 50 or fewer. Get an officiant, they're usually pretty affordable but you need to do your research, shop around and keep your guest list on the smaller side. Also, keep in mind your budget is relative-so if your budget is 5000- you can't pick out a 1500 dress. You'd be better to spend that on food and bar service.

You don't have family or others cook for you. You need to have it catered. There are inexpensive meal options. You have 2 years to save up. Research your area. Fire halls etc may be cost effective location. Then find a caterer.

Okay I'm just throwing this number out there maybe 100 people, Here's my thing what if they bring a extra person? But like you said I have 2 years to start saving. I really like this venue in Queens,NY I saw on their site it would be $79 a person I calculated it wasn't happy with the price most of the money will be spent on food. I'm going to look into other options

How far do you want to drive? I'm in Monmouth county NJ. Our venue Jacques is about $5000 for 60 people. Look on our side of the Hudson you might find something more reasonable.

You can't host 100 people for $5000 in LI, NY.

Cut that to parents, siblings and grandparents and call it a day.

$5k for 100 people won't work. You should look into other options or save some money. Good luck!
