54 Days- Is there time to shed some weight?

So, at my last dress fitting it was a bit of a struggle to zip the dress. It is TIGHT, ladies, and not comfortable. My alterations lady asked if I wanted her to take it out, but I asked her to give me a chance to lose the weight. You would think that would get me to the gym right away, but of course I kept putting it off. I made it in today, had a rockin' work-out and me and the FH are planning low-cal meals, but part of me is worried I procrastinate too long and there's just not enough time to shed the excess weight Smiley sad

I've never been athletic or overly motivated to lose weight. But ever since I quit smoking the weight has been going up up up. Does anyone have ay tips or tricks? I don't feel comfortable crash dieting, but it seems like weight loss is a slow process and I'm running out of time!

    Sign up for My Fitness Pal to track your calories and exercise, it really is an amazing website! You can safely lose up to 2 pounds per week, so you have plenty of time to drop a few pounds before your wedding! Smiley smile

    You can lose up to 2lbs a week, anything more is not all that healthy. You have about 8 weeks which means you can lose 16 pounds in 54 days if you work hard and eat right. You can do it!

    I second MyFitnessPal, track your calories, tell it you want to lose 2lbs a week and don't eat above the given calorie amount, but if you do go above just exercise it off! It won't be easy but it will be worth it Smiley smile

    You can do it. From what I hear, it takes about 4 weeks for you to see a difference, if this is true, then you have time to look fab and fit in the dress Smiley laugh

    Agreed Myfitnesspal!! Try taking some fun classes like Zumba and Spin..even if you don't belong to a gym a lot of places let you pay as you go for classes like Zumba. I try to work out often...but I get bored easily. So try to switch it up. Make yourself a promise that you will move for 30 mins a day. Even if its just walking.

    Can you cut soda, breads, pastas? Eat no carbs after 4pm? Increase your water/tea intake and cardio? Or try some new workout routine that shocks your body a little - like, hot yoga, or spinning, or boot camp or something? I don't usually lose weight all that well from doing intense/kick-ass workouts - I lose more when I just walk on the treadmill at an incline for as long as I can stand. Like, an hour or more a day.

    I think you can make some really big-impact changes without actually going on a "crash diet" if that makes sense. I do better when I limit my carbs - not that I eat a dangerously low amount of carbs, I still get them from rice, potatoes and veggies, I just have to be picky about them. That works for me, everybody is different though!

    How much weight do you want to lose. If its only like 1 inch or like 5-10LBS there is time. Give yourself the next 30 days make an appt for the 30th day and then get altered if needed.

    My trick. Up up up the water we're talking like 3litres a day. (an extra mini water bottle with ever 30 min workout)

    Walk every where. EVERYWHERE!

    join hot yoga, if you havn't been before most places have a start up deal, I went to one that was 10 days for $10 another that was 1 month for $40.

    All I did was up the water, walk walk walk, hot yoga once a day and NO booze. Didn't touch my diet at all.

    YOU CAN DO IT!! You have plenty of time Smiley smile Drink lots and lots of water, till you feel like your going to float away! It really does help.

    You definitely can lose a good chunk of weight in 54 days, BUT you have to be exercising and eating healthfully. Drink lots of water!

    Yes, there is still time as long as you motivate yourself to stick to it! By keeping your calories to around 1200 a day and exercising for at least 30 minutes 6 times a week, you can drop a couple pounds a week or more but more important, you will lose inches and that is what is preventing you from fitting into your dress properly.

    You have about 9 weeks - in 10 weeks I lost 15 pounds, 5 inches in my waist, 4 inches in my bust and 4 inches in my hips. So go for it!

    Thanks for the motivation, ladies. I'm going to check out the fitness pal, I'm not a calorie counter but I like that you can enter what you ate and it knows the calories. Thanks for the tip! I've hear the no carbs after lunch thing. I think it'sour dinners that do us in. I always have a light breakfast and pack my own lunch, but then we stuff ourselves at dinner.

    I have a gym membership. I started out the year great with my wedding in mind and by the end of February I was paying for nothing. Went back today, hope I can keep up the motivation.

    I'm in the some boat! I started working out about 6 months ago and I am not where I thought I would be. With our date approaching fast it makes me nervous.

    Totally, drink 64 oz of water, lite on the salt, no bread or soda. eat salads with chicken or lite tune with o/v. lite on the dairy. keeping your serving sizes to the palm of your hand and eat several mini meals throughout the day. you can get your sugar fix through fruit.

    Luckily, its summer so you have so many vegs and fruits to help you.

    I worked for LA weight loss several years ago, and these were the trickes to quick safe weight loss.

    Try to workout too Smiley smile good luck you can do it!!!

    Great post ladies. I also need to loose some inches for my dress. I did join curves and can see a difference in waist and legs. thanks for all the tips 53 days will come fast.

    No Soda...Drink LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of water...When I gave up soda the weight started falling off like crazy. Granted I went to the gym a few times a week, but I only went for like 30 mins each time. Really tune into if you're full or not...I was always part of the clean plate club no matter what. When I REALLY paid attention to when I wasn't hungry anymore, I was eating a lot less. Also try snacks throughout the day, but lo cal one...like fruits, veggies, yogurts. When I had a trainer...he also said you eat because you're bored...so when I found myself hungry late at night, I would occupy myself with something to get my mind off food. I also was done eating for the day by 7-8pm at the latest. You can still eat certain things you like...just moderate how much you're eating...Again...fitness pal is AWESOME!!! Or if you're looking for a support forum...sparkpeople.com. I found A LOT of motivation from sparkpeople.com. I went from a size 20 to a 14. 240 lbs to 180.

    Totally able to be done. I run a fitness group (a grip of ladies from WW are also in it) if you need constant motivation, let me know and I can get you added to the group. The ladies are AMAZING.

    I gained weight when I lived abroad a few years back, and when I came back to America I lost 30 pounds doing Weight Watchers, and it took me 3 months. I do exercise about 5 days a week, but Weight Watchers really did the trick.

    You said that the dress fits, just not comfortably so from the sounds of it, you don't have too much to lose, 10 lbs at the most, depending on where you normally gain most of your weight on your body. I would definitely look to the suggestions that the ladies mentioned above and decide which ones work for you and get to it! Try and make it into some sort of a game and less of a chore so that you can battle some of your procrastinating habits - no one procrastinates when it comes to having fun, now do they? Smiley winking

    Everybody has great suggestions - drink tons of water is a biggie. I am also going to add to quit drinking booze. No beer, liquor, wine - well, if you must keep the wine to one glass a day. Alcohol slows down your metabolism.

    Hi date twin!! You can totally do this ... I had a dress fitting last night and would like to drop about 10 pounds to feel better in my dress too!! If you need a buddy let me know - We can help each other!! I have a gym membership that I pay for each month and don't use ever but I think I am going to try and go as much as I can for these last 54 days!! Good luck - You will look beautiful Smiley smile

    Zumba!!!! You will see progress quickly! Maybe not pounds but you will start shedding inches. That is what I did. I only lost 30 pounds but went down 6 pants sizes. Walking is good too. but it won't do any good if you eat the wrong things. All I did was eat smaller meals of what I usually eat. It may not look like a huge difference to you all but I it is to me!
