6 months to our wedding... What's really the best weight loss plan?

Megan, on April 20, 2012 at 9:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

Hey ladies... This has been beat to death but I find typical weight loss tips boring. I have 6 months to our wedding, and Yes I want to look beautiful in my dress, but let's be honest... I want to look smokin on our honeymoon. What's worked the best for you? Weight watchers? Zumba? That crazy feeding tube thing? (kidding!!!!) I'm just really curious on what's worked?!?

Megan we're date twins!!! I've been reading up on Bob Greene's Best life diet, but honestly the best thing i've found is to just count your calories and increase your activity level. It's the healthiest way to lose the weight and keep it off!

Nothing but honest to god hard work. I lost 53lbs. doing a mix of workout moves, using hand weights, taebo moves, my stepper, and myself.

I started in the beginning of january. i wanted to speed the process, so both my fh and i started nutrisystem. i figure once i lose my goal weight, i'll switch to weight watchers. so far i've lost 30 pounds. i've been very good too. the food isn't so bad. i also work out to jillian michaels "shred" 5x's a week. it's a great workout. i also walk for 1 hour 2x a week. i still want to lose 20 more pounds.

I'm doing a combo of wii fit plus, with golds gym dancing workout games, and trying to eat more filling foods at each meal and not snack throughout the day and when I do I try to make it on fruits or vegetables. I've lost about 5lbs in the last month or so...I'm pretty excited

VARIETY works! A variety of cardio and weight lifting...many women are under the impression that lifting will make them get scary muscular and bigger which is NOT the case...building lean muscle makes your body burn off calories at a much higher rate.

Variety goes for food as well! Eat healthy but don't eat the same things over and over or else you're going to get bored and sick of them and start slipping back into old habits.

I have found that weight watchers works best for me. It is slower than some fad diets out there (about 2lbs. a week). However, while losing weight, you are learning how to eat healthier and portion control! Also, I have found it easier to keep the weight off since they have a maintenance program.

PS- LOVE how you spell your name lol

Variety of workouts, muscle confusion...all that "fun" stuff. basic advise workout at least 5 times a week, eat 5-6 small meals a day...refrain from alcohol and fried foods. basically don't have any fun. LOL

I have zumba for WII that I have been working on using every night..I also hula hoop 10 minutes a day, which is suppose to take inches off the waist. I don't weight myself anymore because even when I go down in clothes sizes I am still maintaining my weight, instead I measure myself once a month. I have about 2 weeks til I measure myself again, so hoping to see results! Otherwise I go to the gym 30 minutes a day.

This week, I started the OxyELITE diet pills from GNC, and i've already lost 4 lbs this week. But I replace my breakfast and lunch [or dinner] with the Lean Shakes [it's protein shakes] and eat 1 regular meal a day. Those shakes kinda keep me filled up. They don't give me that full feeling, but it def keeps me satisfied til my regular meal

Awwww Dawn E, don't scare her away lol! I agree with the fried foods being a no-no, but no alcohol?! Definitely go easy on beer and sugary mixed cocktails....however wine (not moscato!) and vodka with sparkling water and a splash of grapefruit juice is fair game lol!

As for the OxyElite pills Spike M. brought up, those work but please PLEASE follow the directions and don't skip the prescribed doses! And drink LOTS of water when taking it as well as remember to eat (it's REALLY easy to forget to eat while taking those pills!)

I swear by weight watchers. It has worked the best for me and as long as you stick with it then it works great and they will help you to maintain that rocking bod for after wedding and honeymoon are over! I have lost 25lbs and have kept it off (still hope to loose 18 more lbs). If you add some good work out that will help too! If your not use to working out start with a really small goal like 2 days a week. Something that you might really do. If you get into a good habit then you can move up and work out more (whats recommended) but start off slow.

The best thing I can suggest is find what you LIKE!

For instance, I enjoy running and taking classes and that's how I'm managing my weight. You have to find something you enjoy doing that way it doesn't seem like a chore for yourself Smiley smile

Diet and exercise - count calories and make sure you are consuming less than you are exercising away. I found that worked best for me because I could still "cheat" and have bread or chocolate occasionally without it wreaking havoc with weight loss.

For me, exercising is the key and it can be any kind of exercise. I like to switch things up so I mix zumba with calisthenics, walking and hula hoop on the Wii. I love using my Wii because after each exercise round it will show how many calories you have burned. Great motivator!

Increase your green veggies! Try and not eat as many carbs (they cause bloating and other such loveliness---I live on carbs so this ones hard for me lol) and drink lots of water!

I start my wedding workout on Monday. I plan on going to the gym daily, doing 30 mins to an hour of cardio per day and doing 30 mins of toning exercises every other day. I'd like to be down from a size 11 to a size 5 by my wedding Smiley smile

You ladies are awesome! My issue is that I have a light breakfast, drink more coffee than I'm willing to put into print, a sensible lunch ( a sandwich, salad, etc) and then a dinner which is usually chicken or fish, rice and veggies. I'm happy, FH is not. I'm not very active because I don't have time. I work nearly 50 hr a week and am adding grad school. Perhaps less time here... But i won't give that up! I'll be honest and say the biggest contributor is most likely wine calories, but I'm stressed to the max but am working on it. Thank you for all your tips and Im going to try and be better and work out. He loves me no matter what, but I haven't worn a bikini in over 5 years.... And I want to look hot on our honeymoon!!

Atkins, nutrasystem if you can afford it *WITH EXERCISE*, Weight watchers, and insanity seem to work.

Atkins is free online. You might carb crash.. But you can fit it to you.

Nutrasystem you need to work out.

Weight watchers - has meetings but it's fee online or cheap.

Insanity is a high intense work out but the diet plan is awesome.
