60" round tables... Help!

Audreana, on January 23, 2017 at 3:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

Hi! so our venue provides us with 60" round tables.

To keep costs controlled (centerpiece wise) I've been playing with the idea of having 10 people per table instead of the standard 8. We went to about 10 weddings last year (no joke) for friends and the last one I remember had about 10 people at each table. I personally was fine, I wasn't necessarily cramped. But I did hear others complain. Would you or have you previously put people at a 60" table or is that really just uncomfortable for guests?

60" is a bit tight for 10 people, especially for a sit down where there will be a lot of dishware and silverware on the tables and everyone will be sitting at the same time.

the standard banquet table is 72" round which seats 10.

60" (which is what I have) seats 8.

My venue has 72" tables and they do 10 at each. They can do 12, but they said that with 12 they can't do chargers and the same nice place setting they can fit with 10.

I'm not sure if that would be the same with 10 people at a 60" table, but if you're planning on a bigger place setting I would check into it.

    Mix it up!

Your friends and younger guests may not mind it, so place them at tables of 10.

Keep family and guests you think may have an issue with it at smaller tables of 8.

Honestly no guest will notice that the tables have diff amounts of chairs!

It comes down to how much room guests will have. I can have 10 guests my size comfortable but 10 guests my mothers size would not be. Maybe have the odd table of 10

A 60" table can completely accommodate 10 guests. Once you go to a 72" table, linens are more expensive and that cost will probably be passed on to you.

@Erin, great idea!! I didnt even think of that.. it's mainly a few family members who would have the issue, others I dont really anticipate it being a problem for... I feel silly not thinking of that solution but thanks! lol

I don't think it's a good idea, especially since you heard people complaining at another wedding. You want your guests to be comfortable.

We went to venues that have 60 inch tables, and they said they seat 10. Our venue has 72 inch tables, and we're planning to seat 8-9 at FH's family tables because they are bigger people who would complain if they felt squeezed. We're doing 9-12 at the 72 inch tables as groups fit.

You can also be creative with your centerpieces! We mixed it up and had 3 different sized centerpieces at different price points - a large floral arrangement, a short floral arrangement, and a floral arrangement that re-used the bridesmaid bouquets!

Do you need even numbers at each table? My friend had 60inch rounds and had 9 per table. Not sure what that does to your guest breakdown, but you could do some tables of 8 and some of 9?

I would mix it up for sure! I would just be wary of who is sitting at each table. For example, I would be completely fine, but my 6'5", very broad shouldered FH would be complaining the whole time.

    You're welcome!!

I just assumed all tables had to be the same until our coordinator mentioned mixing them up!

It'll help us keep friend and family groups together too!

Our venue has 60" tables and the coordinator told us they typically seat 10 at each.

We are doing 6 at a table. We can have up to 10, but i only have 53 guest so it would be funny looking
