600 Guest Wedding to decorate

I am having a hard time figuring out centerpieces for my wedding. I have to come up with something to decorate around 75 tables. My family and soon to be family has been amazing with helping pay for everything but I don't want to spend that much on centerpieces because it is not that important to me...

Any suggestions or ideas?

Yes it is a lot. Where I came from thats a pretty normal number for an Italian wedding so I guess I never realized what exactly I was in for. The table will be family style seating probably 8 so it is more difficult to decorate than a round table. In my opinion atleast. I love the garland but when I looked into it, it was around $70.00 a piece for each garland. I am contemplating the fake garland but they are still fairly expensive. I am trying to keep the price below $30.00 a piece.

OMG i need to know more details about this wedding. 600 guests, that is going to be one epic wedding. It must be hella long for you to visit all those 75 tables though!

Have you talked to a florist yet? They would have some nice inexpensive ideas. I didn't know what to do for centerpieces and my florist helped out alot.

Hoping to see more posts from you!

Dollar store vases with water and floating candles on a mirror, votives around, with flower petals sprinkled around it. Not grand by any means, but you probably won't be able to afford grand with a 600 person wedding

Have you contacted a florist or decorator to see whether they can help you out, and be within your budget?

Every single vendor I encountered was willing to work with me, and make really beautiful suggestions based on my budget constraints.

Even if you end up paying a tiny bit more to use a professional, imagine how much less stressed you will be in the months/weeks leading up to your wedding, and the day of having to worry about setting everything up.

@Tamara Yes they do use that time do that.... I am marrying the first born son and first born grandson so it is a huge deal to their family... we even have family coming in from Italy. I am Italian as well and we come from a town with a fairly large Italian culture so to us this is normal.

I am renting the table cloths, chair covers, table runners, and they are draping the whole venue. I like the floating candle idea and I have not contacted a florist yet. I have a ton of people who can help decorate but it would be nice to have someone just set up the centerpieces for me. The only thing thats holding me back from the florist is I know that I can get the flowers for a good price. I work for CDOC and they have a greenhouse program. I dont know if its even worth saving the money though it we have to set it up.

Jesus be a fence....I'd die if I had to deal and look at that many people.

    I echoed others, hire someone!

This centerpiece looks very nice, and is quite simple to do! I looked on Amazon, and found floating candles for $14.99 for a pack of 24, set of 48 mason jars for $65, and ten yards of burlap twine for $9.99. To put everything together, you're looking at give or take $450 which is exactly $6 per table. Not too bad!

I just came here to say holy shit I can't even wrap my head around that many guests!I'm sorry I have no advice for you, I just want to say I hope you're able to figure things out.

I'm genuinely curious since you said this is the norm by you, where are you from? I'm old school Italian in NY and never heard of a wedding so big unless it was a famous person!

I went to a wedding that had long rectangular tables (if thats what you mean by family style seating) she bought vases all different sizes from like Homegoods,TJ Maxx, dollar store. and each had one or two different flowers in them. it doesnt sound like much but it was actually really cute. HOWEVER she defintely did not have 600 guests and I agree with othet posters that you need someone to help set up.

I fully realize this isn't related to your post at all, but what's the overall budget for a 600 person wedding?

I spent a little more than $25k for 52 guests, so I literally cannot even imagine what 600 would cost!

Sounds like it will be one hell of a party though!

I am from Pueblo Co. Its the type of town that brought a lot of Italian immigrants here since we had a steel mill that offered a lot of good paying jobs. In my town you pretty mich invite every Italian family... especially if you grandparents are still alive. Mine unfortunately are not but my fiancée's are. It's also the type of town that no one really leaves even though Pueblo has a really bad reputation, it is actually an amazing town. But my budget is actually fairly non existent but out of respect for everyone involved I am trying to keep the price on the lower side of a 600 person wedding if that makes sense. Luckily we have connections with things like alcohol where we will get it for a great price. I would like the keep the wedding as a whole under 45,000. Where we come from though a lot of things are fairly inexpensive as compared to larger cities.

How are you going to personally greet and thank each and every guest at this wedding? Even spending just 30 seconds with each person with zero breaks at all (no taking a sip of water, no using the bathroom, definitely no food) would take you FIVE HOURS! You need to bring this back down to reality.

I suggest the same as others and contact a florist. I'm sure they can do a simple, floral centerpiece with an inexpensive type of flower.

Frankly, I don't understand why anyone has an issue with you having 600 guests. Sure, it's a LOT of people, and is a bit shocking to those of us (like me) who had more "intimate" weddings but as long as you provide a chair for every butt, a comfortable temperature controlled environment, have a professional caterer, and provide free alcohol, who cares how many guests you have?

What is not "realistic" about having 600 guests?

I'm going to echo the hire-a-professional advice. With that many tables, I'd recommend having a couple of different centerpieces and alternate tables for a little variety. Maybe candles on one table, flowers on the next, or different flower arrangements or varying vase heights. Work with a pro...they can give you advice with your budget.

@EM, it is the duty of the wedding couple to personally greet and thank every last guest one on one. It is unforgivable to skip this most basic requirement. You cannot personally interact with 600 people. Ergo, a guest list of 600 is not realistic.
