7 Days Until Our Wedding and I've Got the Flu! How Do I Make Sure Dear FH Doesn't Get It?

BecomingMrsDavis, on April 15, 2016 at 5:58 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 11

I currently feel like a train ran over me. I'm on Tamiflu, drinking lots of fluids, waiting for any kind of energy to return to my body so I can Lysol the crap out of the house and do the million other things I wanted to get done this weekend.

Other than having FH sleep in the guest room, reminding him to constantly wash his hands, what else can I do to make sure he doesn't get sick?!

Maybe pick him up some Lysine vitamins and have him take those? They are great for the immune system.

Vitamin C! My dad and a lot of my coworkers had the flu a few months ago. I took vitamin C every day and managed to escape it. Feel better!

Maybe ask your doctor if he can get a script for tamiflu as well. My doctor has done that for my family in the past when some of us has came down with the flu. He gave tamiflu to all of us a a preventive measure

Lots of rest. Lots of liquids. Ibuprofen for aches and pains. Or a cold and flu medication

Vitamin C drops. Quarantine yourself as much as possible. I had to do this when my mom was around and taking chemo. I couldn't come NEAR her for a week.

Oh no! Keep the house warm and use a humidifier - the flu virus likes cold, dry air.

And have him get plenty of sleep. He's more vulnerable to getting sick if he's run-down.

    This if from Zicam's FAQ's:

    Staying Healthy

Cold and flu viruses are spread in a variety of ways, most often by hand-to-hand contact. To reduce your chance of catching one of these viruses, Zicam suggests the following:

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth after being exposed to viruses or bacteria

Frequently clean surfaces such as computer keyboards, refrigerator door handles, stair rails, telephones, counter tops and doorknobs to avoid the spread of viruses

Promote strong immune function by switching from coffee to tea, eating garlic liberally, and adding yogurt to your diet

Drink lots of water, which flushes toxins out of your body while re-hydrating your system

Also - this is our family protocol when the flu shows up:

    1. We use NOTHING but disposable glasses/dishes/flatware for the sickie. yeah I have a super cool Kitchenaid dishwasher that sanitizes, but whoever is loading the dishwasher is touching the items the sickie used. NOTHING but disposable.

    2. We haul out the Lysol wipes and hit every toilent handle, every faucet, faucet handle, all cupboard drawers and cabinets, fridge handles, all appliances, every single doorknob in the house. Even the toothpaste tube. TV remotes and keyboards. When someone has the flu I swear I have the most sanitized remote in town.

    3. Sickie stays out of the kitchen and has their own kleenex and trashcan by their chosen place to veg out while getting well.

A little over the top? Yeah, but it was all recommended from our doctor and I swear when we adhere to this, the whole house doesn't come down with cooties unless we we were careless.

    Have FI lysol wipe EVERYTHING,
