70 days, invitations out, & changing venue - LONG Story

So my #s went up from about 115 to 150. My venue originally said they could handle it by opening some double doors from the ballroom to the main dining room. Well I could not concieve that it would look like it did! Her solution was to have half the guest in one room and half in another but they could look through the doors to see back and forth. I could not concieve how our guest wouldn't feel like they weren't really invited! I asked her if we could move the tables in the smaller room and put the dancefloor there. That way at least if people didn't want to be with all the noise they could go back into the other room. This would have been a really workable solution as I am going to have many older guests who would prefer not to listen to "booty shaking" music all night. Her response was "We cannot move the tables." After looking at her blankly, my response was (cont'd)....

I just need to get the contract from the Marriott my new favorite hotel and I can officially cancel the country club. I am so glad and thankful it worked out. I have been doing so much to make sure my guests were taken care of. This would have negated it all!

Oh Buddy so sorry you had to deal with this mess. Very glad you found what is sure to be an amazing solution/venue. Your wedding will rock and you will have tons of great pics

Glad everything worked out. Good for you! I'm kind of worried about a similar problem because our venue only holds 150. We're going to be inviting much more than that, because I expect most of my very large family to not come. But if they do, we're going to be over 150.

I am so glad it worked out for you. There is no way you could have pulled off the two rooms without drama. I am glad you will only take a small financial hit. But, sometimes, the hit works out for the best.

As for those you thought wouldn't come but decided to attend, we are having the same issue. I learned a valuable lesson when helping my daughter plan her wedding.

It's amazing that only 6 people have said they are not coming. We are sure Oprah, the Obama's and the Bidens will not come even though they were invited. LOL. So that gets us down to 170. We were expecting 20 more people to decline --not sure that's going to happen. I think people want to view the miracle of ME and FH getting married. LOL! If you knew us this statement would not be far fetched at all!
