You know, the article was helpful, but I can't help but to read the comments on stuff like this. Once again, it's the same battle between DIY brides and vendors! Will it never end!!!

Thank you for the posting this. I think she did a great job and we are all doing a great job as well. The comments were out of controll. I have been irritated by some of our vendors but really the vendors are never as nasty as the vendors that posted on that site. There was 1 vendor that said she would do the same thing for her wedding and that was cool.

We have been doing an AMAZING job in regards to our budget. Like this article staying in the $5 to $6k range has been a game. Things we have gotten for free include our photography and DJ. I entered a contest for our photography and won a $700 package including our wedding album. One of my friends is a DJ and offered to be our DJ. We also went with a package deal that included a live pianist for the ceremony, some photography, videography, flowers (5 bouquets, 5 boutonnieres, and 2 corsages), a seated and served dinner with 4 menu selections, an open bar, covered chairs, several different appetizers, among many other things for the sum of $4k. I personally was dead set on having an evening wedding. So to save money we are having the wedding on a Thursday night. In addition Michaels and Joanns ad coupons have been a LIFESAVER. Every week I go with my coupon and buy 1 thing for the wedding. My wedding dress was $800 and during a sale purchased it for $100. For favors, Orientaltrading.com

This was a great article with some great suggestions. We, too, had a wedding on a budget. It really can be done! In fact, there is a page about it on Margaret's web-site at:

Hope you and other brides will find some more ideas there.

Best wishes for a wonderful wedding.

I'm making a game of keeping the wedding costs down too. I found my FH's ring online at half the cost of jewelry stores. I will be getting my dress from a company in China who makes replicas of designer gowns. I make wedding cakes so that will only cost me a few dollars. My FH won free airfare tickets worth $1500 using Coke rewards and my parents are letting us use their timeshare points. My sister is a photographer and his cousin plays the violin. I found wedding favors for 50 cents each for 125 guests. Our reception site was pretty reasonable and includes all the Christmas decorations, centerpieces, coordination, and set up of all the favors, table assignments, etc. I'm planning on getting my flowers at Costco and since it's the Monday after Christmas the church will already be nicely decorated. I made my own save the dates and will do the same for the invitations. Hotel points will cover the first night together. The goal is $10K including all the honeymoon expenses too

Carol we are having our ceremony and reception at the Texas Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Its a nice locals casino here in town. As for our honeymoon we are going to Rome for a week. Hotel and airfare for the two of us was $30 for the week. My mom travels all over the world for her job and as a perk she gets to keep her airfare, hotel and rental car points. So she asked us if we could go any where in the world where would we go we told her Rome and the next day it was all booked. The hotel we are staying at was built in 2007 and is just outside in the inner city of Rome. It is going to be an amazing trip.
