A cold the day before my wedding...HELP!

Christina, on December 27, 2013 at 11:10 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 16

I am getting married TOMORROW and I have an awful cold that started with a cough and has turned me into a congested mess. I don't know what to do. My day is booked with pre wedding stuff and rehearsal dinner tonight! Any quick, last minute cold remedies???

CVS minute clinic. I went 4 days before the wedding because I was sick. I told the nurse practitioner "look, I am getting married in 4 days, I don't care what you have to diagnose me with, make it go away!"

I always have good luck with hot tea and dayquil for congestion though.

Afrin will clear your nose. Mucinex will help with the chest congestion. Take Airborne chewable tablets with Immune Support to help your body fight it off. Cough drops will keep you from coughing too much. Nothing you can do about a hoarse throat, but these will at least make it more bearable.

Lemon, ginger, and garlic are natural cold remedies! Also, drink lots of fluids and see if you can take a nap today!

The same thing happened to me! Luckily I caught my cold immediately. You need rest, rest, and REST! Stay in bed. Emergen-C and lots of liquids. Please take care of yourself and you will have a beautiful wedding day!

Old School Remedy - hot whiskey tottie

2 ounces whiskey (we use Jack Daniels)

    1 tablespoon honey

4 ounces water (hot from the tap)

1 teaspoon lemon juice (we use the stuff in the plastic lemon)

1 slice fresh lemon (if we don't have this we don't use it) (optional)

    Directions:

Place the whisky in a large microwave safe mug. Add the honey. Pour the hot water into the mug over the spoon you used for the honey to get off the last little drops.

Add the lemon juice and stir well.

Place the mug in the microwave for 1 minute or until it is piping hot, but not boiling.

Add the lemon slice and drink

I second what @Jet suggested! I'm sick right now and FH made me a similar concoction yesterday and it helped a LOT! It calmed my cough down to basically nothing for the rest of the day.

As much as you don't want to or feel like you can't rest- you will only get worse if you don't relax! Get some rest. Assign taks to your BMs and mom, aunt etc. Take a nap, call to check how things are going. Have another nap, take some chamomile tea and honey until your rehearsal. After rehearsal- straight to bed.

I have really good luck with apple cider vinegar and honey. Take a shot of the apple cider vinegar (it tastes horrendous) and then stick a teaspoon of honey immediately in your mouth. Settles a cough quickly

Ok, this is going to sound crazy but it works. There is something called "Cogniplex" and you can get it from chiropractors. Take five of them and seriously...it will be gone. I do it all the time and it has never failed me. Google it. Seriously it works. Good luck and best wishes for a beautiful wedding day!

I swear by Oscillococcinum. It wards off a cold instantly. But you have to get to it early--so get thee to a pharmacy right now!!!

Thank you for the fast responses! I'm at the drugstore right now! The plan for today is pedicure and manicure, a nap, rehearsal, and then sleep until tmrw! I feel ok and have been drinking hot tea with honey and lemon, butbi am most worried about my voice!

Lots of rest, hot chicken soup, lots of vitamin C, lots of ginger, and Zicam always helped me.
