a convenient online save the dates ?

Geraldine, on December 6, 2021 at 10:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hello,

My wedding is 08/20/2022. We are almost ready to send the send the saves the dates. I started to fill up the “paperless” to send them online to collect people adress, but It do not give the option of people confirming amount of guest, am I mixing everything?
Should we in the save the date tell you people if they are allow a plus one ? ( not everyone is) or have them tell us how many people are coming ( for the one who have a family) or should they just give us their adress and with the official invitations we will get the count of head?
I hope I make sense in my question 😅

Are you able to call people as a save the date at 6-@ months as has been done for decades? That way they can give you addresses and you relay the necessary information. Email is also an option but you risk some people not getting the email because if you don’t regularly communicate it can get sent to the spam folder.

Wait until you send invites at 6-8 weeks for them to commit. No one can confirm plans before 4 weeks before the wedding.

We have people coming from France Japan and Korea so we have to tell them early so they can book aircraft tickets and hotels. Is it not the purpose of the save the dates to have them comit to the wedding ?

We have about 150/160 people and we thought it would be easier to have people filling their adress online with the website so then when we order the physical addresses we can just get them printed from the web site

A save the date is a soft hold saying that you would like them to set the date aside as a definite invited guest. But you also understand that circumstances may arise where they are unable to attend. Nothing is set in stone until the invites are sent, as you cannot revoke them once they are sent, so make sure everyone who is sent one is someone you absolutely want in attendance.

You can use Google Forms to gather the information from everyone

I agree with Michelle. Save the dates are kind of like "hey this is just a heads up! So, you might want to start planning or looking into any travel arrangements, looking for babysitters, taking time off, saving, etc."

The invites are the official thing where it lists everything from where and when the wedding is taking place and who is invited. If anything, I would personally contact those guests by phone to let them know how many you have reserved in their name. Or you can add it to the save the dates for your guests that are traveling with somethin like, "formal invite to follow with 3 reserved seats being held in your honor". Maybe you can word something like that so your traveling guests know how many are invited. You'll just have to personalize each one. So you can leave a ___ to write in how many are invited yourself.

I agree with Heather and Michelle about the Save the Date.

Have you thought about sending a it through a text message instead? We did that for ours (we only have 20 guests) and it was a nice way to personalize it and chit-chat with our guests a bit.

That’s an option too , with 160 guest we wanted to do things more formally and also have the adress in the system to order the envelopes pre printed
