A different way of "mailing" invitations

jlu, on July 13, 2012 at 4:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

I keep forgetting to post pics of my box DIY invitations. Will do that tonight. Just wanted to share how i'm saving a couple bucks and keeping my 50 guest wedding very intimate - hand delivering invitations to those I can.

I've already given my mom and dad thiers, tonight I'm giving FH's mom and sister thiers! anyone else doing this? There are a couple I'll actually have to mail, like my friends in other states....but overall, I should be able to get most of them out personally. It's a fun way to see how they react to teh invitation too.

We gave the family in the area theirs, the families who attend our church, we put theirs in their church mailbox, and we mailed the rest.

Ooh, I'm interested in these box invitations. I'm doing normal invitations -- well, note cards from VP, and I'll be hand delivering some simply to save stamps/return address labels. If you see some of these folks fairly regularly, why not?

FH wants to hand deliver that ones that live close and then mail the ones that we don't see all the time.

I had box invitations also. We had so many OOT guests that we had to mail many of them. DH wanted to deliver them and I initially thought it was cheezy but when to see/hear how much delight both he and he recipients had when they were hand delivered I completely changed my mind!

Our invitations were boxed and had the recipients name printed on a ribbon on the outside of the box... They were such a hit. I still go to people's homes and see the invitation on the shelf, in the office, etc. It makes me smile inside!

Here are the invitations and the boxes ready for mailing! I can't wait to see yours. I LOVE invitations!

For the most part, I'll be mailing them. I just like that idea. For the STD's I do plan to hand deliver them to the people who are close. the only ones that will recieve one "hand delivered" will be the people who help me put them together-my MOH and BM's.

We hand delivered a lot of our STDs but that turned out to be a bad idea.

A few people lost them or bent and ruined it before it made it to their fridge. Also I got to watch people rip though the special envelopes that I paid extra for and hand addressed without even looking at it... Probably could have written Mr & Mrs Poophead and some people wouldn't have noticed. Smiley sad

We're spending the extra cash and just mailing all of the invitations now.

I recently finished my STD's and I am going to hand them out to save money, and because we are around family/friends to do so. I also want to see people's reactions since they were DIY! However, I will be mailing the invites because I want it to be a bit more formal.

The last bridal shower I went to--the bride handed them out. I thought that was a good idea!! Hers with thick too, it would have cost a pretty penny to mail them.
