A drink before the ceremony?

Mimosas while getting ready? A shot to calm the nerves before the first look / walk down the aisle? A beer at the bar in the venue? Almost all the 'getting ready' pictures I see have some glass of somethin' featured So honestly, who did it / plans to drink before their ceremony? *Photo: Nakai...

OMG. I am so happy for cell phones. Life and work are so much less complicated! I still pick up the phone and dial if text messages exceed 3 responses but how simple it would have been to diffuse all those wedding day emotions with a simple, "Limo down. Dad and bride having a beer. See ya soon!!!!"

I didn't have any alcolhol while getting ready or before the ceremony. I would have been sick if I had. I waited until dinner when there was food in my stomach before I started drinking.

We catered our whole wedding; we arrived at the ceremony site at about 7 AM, and I can tell you I was absolutely having champagne by 10 AM. While I finished doing our flowers and decorating the cake.....

I know I'll have a glass of Riesling before, our venue doesn't allow alcohol.

We started out with 4 bottles of champagne in our ready room...only 1 survived the morning. Mimosas. Yes, please.

I know the boys had some drinks (their GM gifts were bottles of barrel aged whisky) and I gave DH a mini bottle of Patron in his box that I was told he immediately downed.

We had to be at the salon to get our hair done at 11 am for a 5 oclock ceremony. We were out of the salon by 1:30. They offered un limited mimosas on the house complimentary to their services which I in no way was about to partake in as much as I wanted to so badly. I was already exhausted from the last minute tiny details and excitement. I knew I'd be passed out by the time the.ceremony and wedding came. I did however have 1 and a half glasses of champagne in the bridal suite at the venue when we were getting dressed into our gowns and touching up our hair and makeup. I always get a little jealous of those getting ready shots of Brides to be with mimosas in their hands though lol. I saved the drinking until the end. That was just my reality.

I always envisioned mimosas while getting ready, but in my good friend's wedding this summer, she limited everyone to a 2-drink minimum (and only bought enough champagne for that) and even though it was a buzzkill, it was nice not feeling woozy while walking down the aisle in 90-degree weather (I was her MOH). I also drink my mimosas with cranberry juice, so I think I'd be worried like others about spilling it on my dress! The cool thing though is that my venue includes a champagne greeting in our package, so when guests arrive for the ceremony, they will be greeted with a glass of champagne with a raspberry in it Smiley smile

Whatever I drink beforehand, I think it is going to have to be through a straw. 9/10 of my shirts that go through the wash have drink or food stains on them!

Yes please! My sister and I had a drink recently that would be great for this. Italian sparkling wine with a little bit of vodka, muddled blackberry and a squeeze of lemon! Yum!

We had some mimosas in the morning while we got ready! But I was very cautious about drinking before the ceremony, I didn't want any sort of buzz! I wasn't nervous thanks to our first look Smiley smile

One of the gifts I gave my hubby as a grooms gift was an engraved flask with his favorite Captain Morgan in it and a can of coke that says have a coke with your love. He had a couple of drinks and I had champagne while I was getting ready. Two glasses I think. It helped- I got nervous for some reason!

No drinks for me...the whole night actually. I drank a shit ton of water that morning getting ready (based on another WW Bride's reminder to stay hydrated), and stayed with water the whole night. I paid so much flapping $ for this wedding I wanted to be completely sober to enjoy, eh remember, it all.
