When I first started planning our vow renewal it was supposed to be a small, laid back event and I was going to do everything a la carte with the venue. Was going to pick our menu package, then add the bar, etc. But then opted for the wedding package which included everything including centerpieces and a free night in the suite. Venue is a hotel.

Well after crunching numbers, we decided to go back to a la carte and nixed cocktail hour, we don't have centerpieces (not a priority for us), and we'll use candles. Don't have the free night stay in the suite, but only staying 2 nights anyway. Saved us $$$ and we nixed things that we didn't need or weren't a priority.

Did you book your event piecemeal or with a set package??

We started out with a package and opted for the a la cart option probably a month into it. Our venue is a hotel as well. We save almost $2000 doing that. So I definitely feel you on that one.

Wow, you're saving a lot! Sounds like a smart move. I did a package, I don't even think my venue had a la carte except if you wanted to add carving stations, etc. You don't even wanna know how much it was, it makes me cringe!
