I agree with you and would be annoyed. If guests are traveling from out of state, they are not going to travel 2 weeks in a row unless they make a long vacation out of both your weddings. If not, you may have a higher decline rate at your wedding because they already attended the cousin’s.

We’re having ours in Cambridge so it’s pretty convenient for them but still. But his sister is in my wedding. But thankfully my fiancé and dad are also not happy about it.

LOL my FH's sister who is 40 with a husband and a child, threatened to throw herself off a two story balcony because I didn't ask her to be a bridesmaid. Now she is refusing to come and unfollowed both of us on social media. She lives across the country and I've met her a total of twice, the second time being when this happened.

It might feel calculated, but it's most likely not. It might seem like they waited specifically until they got your save the date, but most likely not. I come from a big family, my cousin and I both got engaged within a few weeks of each other, I haven't once felt like my family isn't just as excited for me as they are for her (actually some of them are more excited for me than her cause I'm a decade older...). There isn't a limit on how much joy people can share in, even if events are close together.

While it may be frustrating, I wouldn't let it get to you.

What does nervy mean? Honestly you get one day my cousin is getting married right before me and they are having their wedding in Mexico, however there is plenty of celebration for both as there will be for you

It's really not that big a deal - and considering that you were calling your cousin names in the original post, I have to agree with Caytlyn - they aren't the nightmare.

My cousin announced her engagement 2 weeks after mine, then chose a wedding date 2 weekends before mine. No big deal 🤷🏼‍♀️ We are both happy and supportive of one another.

Not a family one but I had a friend situation. My FH & I were going a few weeks ago to look at venues in one town, a then friend mentioned a place. That same night I told her the venue we chose, she got so mad at me because it was her dream venue & she couldn't get married there because she had to move. When we toured the venue, my FH was literally visualizing where & how things could be set up. Then she got mad because I am using a light shade of purple because she used a darker shade of purple. Then even more mad because the idea of appetizers was brought up & that's what she did. She then told me that my FH & I need to be original and not copy her! But her wedding was NOT original. She got married on Halloween and their theme was Nightmare Before Christmas (my cousin did that a couple years before). I couldn't handle the stress and drama she kept bringing, I ended the friendship, I did try talking to her before I ended the friendship but she wasn't listening.


Have you asked your cousin why, they chose the week before your wedding? I do hope things get better for you & your family.

You all have to understand my fiancee and me, we had to wait to see what dates in September were available. Because every year in Cambridge Maryland they host an event for the Ironman triathletes.
