A second proposal?

Aylenrose, on March 1, 2017 at 1:04 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

Before I mentioned that my FH proposed while I was pumping after our son was born. Recently he has been saying that he wants to redo the proposal. I told him that the proposal he did was perfect and there was no need to do it again but he insists saying that I deserve a more romantic well thought out proposal. He said the last one he couldn't wait to propose and so he did it quickly and out of nowhere and this time he's going to plan something out, set it all up and surprise me. Even though I have my ring I am still all nervous/giddy about him popping the question again. Lol has anyone else gone through this by getting proposed to twice?

I haven't had this happen, but I think it's sweet that he wants to make a special moment/memory for you.

No but I wish he would do it again. There was no thought put into mine and we bought the ring together so no surprise there or anything. If he wants to do it again then he should just do it.

Thank you! Smiley smile I think it's because last time my hair was a mess, no make-up, I had a cover over me because really close friends were there visiting and pjs on. So he probably felt bad that I couldn't get the cute proposal pictures and I was still in pain after giving birth only 5 days before that.

Although, I don't really believe he can "re-do" the proposal since he already asked and you said yes, FH did something a little similar. FH proposed when we were on a weekend trip up in Michigan on the lake. He arranged it so that when we were walking along the shore in the evening, he would have both of our parents and our best friends there to witness it. He was so nervous after he saw everyone watching from across the dunes that he didn't say everything that he wanted to. Although, it was wonderful and definitely a shock to see everyone after he popped the question, he wasn't quite as happy with it. The next evening, we walked along the same shore and he got down on one knee again (this time completely in private) and told me everything he had planned to say the day before. I always tell the first story as our proposal story but the next day will always be that special moment for us.

Like Erin, I was with FH when we got my ring. We agreed he was gonna do it that night. So I knew it was coming. It was still special to me because my whole family was there. He didn't get down on one knee or anything either, so I told him last night that for our e-pics I'm gonna make him get down on one knee. Would it be sweet if he re-did it? Yeah. But I don't think it's necessary for me because I still remember that night - even though I don't remember anything he said!

That's so sweet that your FH wants to re-do it!

I sometimes wish my FH would propose again. When he proposed, it was really under very sad circumstances (we had just gotten home from the hospital after his grandpa passed away)

When we had gotten home, he pulled out the ring. He had 2 missed opportunities that evening before we had went to the hospital. He said he proposed after bc people knew he was going to do it and was afraid they would come up to me and ask "let me see your ring" or tell us congratulations.

But then I also look at it that my FH had alot of strength to give me the ring despite how sad he was about his grandpa.

If he wants to surprise you why is he telling you about it?

We had 4 "proposals"- 5 if you included the one I did for him.

The first one was a hot mess-I was upset all of dinner- and then the moon wouldn't come out and we wound up sending the ring back.

Then he reproposed with the new ring while horse back riding- and it was awesome- but it was to big- so we sent it back for a new ring.

New ring- he proposed again in the kitchen (one knee and all).

Then we sent it back after the setting got knocked loose and he proposed again in the bed room (on one knee) while I was standing there all nekkids trying to go shower.

Each of them were special and funny and I don't regret any of them.

I think the way he did it was awesome! I work as a nutritionist for WIC and we fully promote breastfeeding. So, it's awesome that he did it while you were providing the best nutrition to your baby. lol but if he wants to re-propose that's sweet and thoughtful too!

Right powers? Lol I thought the same I have no idea why he would tell me. He's never been super good about secrets lol so hopefully if he's planning any of it now he won't say anything.

Only one of mine was a photo op- and it was the one I did for him at Niagra falls) they were still for us- and sort of our style and humor but still special. so I don't think it's necessarily that- but definitely "trying to hard" is a thing.

When FH proposed I was so flustered and surprised that I took the ring and put it on myself..... so when we got back to our table, he made me take the ring off so he could put it on himself.

    Not my finest moment there.

I had two proposals. The first one was completely fake, in that he felt pressured to do it because I was pregnant. Our relationship was pure shit at the time and he put zero thought into it. There was no actual "will you marry me." I actually cried about it because it was so obvious that he didn't want to do it, and we got in a fight because he admitted that he didn't really want to. We broke up for a while and when we got back together he told me that when we were ready he would do it right. Christmas 2015 he did it again, this time with a new ring and in a way that showed he actually cared and wanted it to be done right.

There is a website that I have seen that will create a proposal situation for the guy. Can't think of the name. I think a few men here might have visited this website! Smiley smile

Yes I agree the proposal he did was just fine and still really special I didn't need super cute pictures I was just happy to be engaged to the love of my life. He's stubborn though so if this is what he wants to do there's no stopping him lol. Its a really sweet gesture and I appreciate him even thinking about it. Here's a picture from the first proposal he had a sign that was in front of the baby saying will you marry my daddy? Then he handed me our baby and got on one knee.

My FH did the same. Though I was happy with the first time he proposed, he just didn't feel it was how he really wanted it to go. The first time was in January of 2016. I had gotten a $25 dollar ring and in the moment he put it on my finger and asked me to be his wife. I was happy beyond belief but, he didn't see it as being the proposal he wanted for me so he proposed again February 12 of this year.

@Jennifer C- I made FH do this during our engagement pics. HaHa! He did get down on one knee which was sweet but he did it as we were rushing around trying to pack to fly home from Hawaii. He had all week to do it and he just didn't. He's a terrible planner. Oh well.
