So I've been researching the history of various wedding traditions, partly because I was interested, but mostly because I was bored at work Smiley winking Anyway, to my surprise, the poem "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'" ends with the line "A silver sixpence in her shoe." I had never heard that and was just curious to see how many of you did the something old something new, and how many actually did the sixpence as well? Is it uncomfortable in your shoe? ( I just imagine dancing all night with a pebble in shoe!) I found a New Zeland sixpence for a few cents on ebay, so snatched it up, but curious to see what you all thought about that particular tradition.

I haven't heard of this except in that one song that Carrie Underwood sings. I love it though and think I will buy one. There's some pretty cool ones on ebay too.

I have heard of the last line and I wasn't sure where I was going to get one, but I ordered my bouquet from Morgann Hill Designs on Etsy and when I received it and opened the box she included a six pence with it. It was a nice surprise so I will be taping it to my shoe under my arch so I don't feel it. If I am doing the something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue I might as well do the whole thing.
