A Thousand Years -- How do I plan this?

Nancy, on March 28, 2013 at 11:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Both my Bridal Party, along with the groomsmen, and myself will be walking down to A Thousand Years Part 2 by Christina Perri. However, I do not know when would the perfect time for me to walk out during it?

I have 4 bridesmaids, along with the groomsmen walking with them.

The flower girl and the ring bearer.

And then me?

Can anyone listen to the song and kind of help along with this?

I will really appreciate it Smiley smile

Beautiful song but wouldnt it be hard to get all of them seated within 1 minute? maybe just play it and seat them, and don't worry about the "perfect moment" in the song to come out.

Oh i thought you meant when to start playing it for the bridal party to come out, i think one minute would be too soon, i reread the question. sorry! but i think any of the song would be a good timeSmiley winking

With not knowing how long the isle is and time it will take all bridal party members to make the walk...what about having your DJ create a special version with the first part without any lyrics for the bridal party..then transition to with lyrics for you to walk down the isle to...the beginning of the lyrics as the last of them reach the front, the lyrics would be cue for guests to stand, and you start down the isle on "watching you stand alone" as your looking down the isle at your groom standing there waiting for you...

Love that song.. I'm actually walking down thr aisle to " a thousand years " as well but by the piano guys.. I chose to have a different song for bridal party only because I love the beginning part of the piano guys version.. I want that song for myself.. Anyways it depends on how long the bridal party will take to walk down aisle.. You don't want them to feel or look rushed. Then people will notice.

There isn't really a way to know except through trial and error. Is your dj gonna be at the rehearsal so you can practice it then?

Had to share on this little coincidence, I literally just watched Breaking Dawn part 2 for the first time tonight and finished it like 20 minutes ago, heard the song during the credits and googled it....FH and I think we may have just picked our song for our first dance Smiley smile

If everything could be timed perfectly (no small project), you should enter right as the vocalists switch (somewhere around 1:45).

I think 3:50ish would be good. Gives your bridal party about a minute to walk down each, there is a nice little pause where they are humming for a few seconds, and then it starts with the chorus again. Smiley smile

I love this song, I tear up every time I hear it! It will be beautiful for your wedding.

Love Love LOVE this song - we're dancing to the first one as our first dance :-)

Your entrance would be great at 1:45 or 2:27. 2:27 is really the start of the lead up to the big part of the song.

Great song! I've used it before for walking down the aisle and my advice as a DJ would to either have it cued to exactly where you want when you appear, and either play a different song for your BP or have the song playing and fade/mix in the cue spot when the BP has arrived. I wouldn't advise just playing the song and you stepping out at the appointed moment. So many things can go wrong. BP walking too slow/too fast. Photogs in the way. Poor communication between the DJ and the Bride etc.

I like two different songs because it is more dramatic. The BP song could be an instrumental version of the same song or something completely different. The effect when the last BP member gets down at the altar, the previous song fades out, and the bride's song starts up, at a slightly higher volume level really punctuates the moment.

If you stick to your original plan and appear at a set point in the song, then have the DJ raise the volume just a bit at that point. Good luck & congrats!

I LOVE that song. If I could walk to it, that is what I was going to walk to. I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to though because of the church music "rules." I had down when I would start walking, but I was the only one who was going to walk to it.

I am using the original vocal version of that song, and will be walking to it myself. I have something else chosen for my MOH to walk to. We have a LONG walk from golf clubhouse locker room (much nicer than it sounds) to the ceremony site. The song really is more fitting for the bride, and I would think you would want your entrance to be special...not come in to the same song as the WP. Just my 2 cents.

@terri that is a wonderful idea! i was gonna start walking out a few seconds before "watching you stand alone" so by the time he was in view id be looking at him at the moment with the words! great minds think alike!!

also instrumental to lyrics is a wonderful idea!
