Hi ladies! After my man proposed we started thinking, "How are two twenty-eight-year-olds with tons of college debt going to have a nice wedding??" We only had under a grand of spare cash and didn't want to have to have our parents chip in. We decided a "budget wedding " was all that we needed....

Hi ladies! After my man proposed we started thinking, "How are two twenty-eight-year-olds with tons of college debt going to have a nice wedding??" We only had under a grand of spare cash and didn't want to have to have our parents chip in. We decided a "budget wedding " was all that we needed. Here's the breakdown: marriage license - $40. Invites - $50. Flowers - $50. Other decor: $30. Food - $550. cupcakes - $15. Rings - $20. Material for dress - $20 and I'm not a seamstress. Minister/DJ - free (a friend). Tuxedo - free (massage trade). Wedding planner/band and vocal coach - free (a massage trade) and hair - free. My point of this post is to encourage couples that are broke that with some creativity, you can still make your day special.

I would love to see pictures from this so called "wedding for $800". I don't see how this pulling a wedding off for $800 is even possible.

Ok guys geez!! Here are some pics. The one of me in the air is because we had the minister say "you may now dance with the bride" and we did a swing dance we choreographed to our favorite song. Lol

What are those people in the background doing? Just hanging out on their deck? I think that's kind of funny for some reason.

Do you have pics of you with your girls?

Knowing the cost of fabric- $20 only got you about 3-4 yards of decent quality fabric. Your dress also shows lace. That is pretty pricey. And considering you've never sewn before- I'm highly inclined to question your story.

Many of us are much mroe financially stable. Our relationships are also stable. We are planning the weddings we want, and paying cash. We didn't rush into getting married because wanted to have a calm, relaxing planning time period and because we know a piece of paper won't change our commitments to each other.

I'm sorry you felt the need to hurry through your event. I'm sorry you aren't more financially stable and had to cut corners at every turn. I'm glad you are happy- but please don't belittle those of us who are in better financial positions. We share money saving tips all day long. And we don't break ettiquette rules to save some cash.

And since our officiants are actually licensed, our marriages are legally valid, where as yours may not be.

I told everyone I wanted them in brown white or yellow but most people only had black. But that was ok. The point was to not spend a lot of money and to just dance and have a fun time. Oh and to get married. Hehe

    Glad you enjoyed your day.

I like that chick's dress who is holding the child.
