About to start Weight Watchers - nervous!!!

Cassie, on December 26, 2014 at 8:57 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 5

Hello all!

I am about to start weight watchers (after new years of course). I have about 20 lbs to lose in about 5 months. I know it's do-able, but I tend to do this thing with diets where I go full-out (perfectionist at heart), get frustrated if it doesn't work perfectly (or if I am forced to be hungry), and give up - which I REALLY don't want to do this time around.

Does anyone have any advice about transitioning into WW in a realistic manor? Any foods I should start out eating at the beginning that are low in points (I know veggies and fruits are free)? Or just any experiences with WW that might give me hope that this is more do-able?

Thanks. ladies!!!

    This is a great thread, I'm starting weight watchers too after the new years! From what I heard it isn't that bad at all it's all about portions. I can do portions I just don't want to cut out any food. I would definitely start with the veggies and the fruit. Tonight I kind of jumped start it and tried a salad with radishes. I have never tried radishes and they aren't that bad, so it is exciting I can add a healthy food to a list of things I can have! I would try and find some positive foods that may excite you to start eating more!

    I've never tried WW before but good luck on your weight loss journey. You can do it.

    I really want to start WW on Jan 2nd just so I'm accountable / getting weighed weekly lol not for the diet. When I'm in "diet" mode I'm super clean and unprocessed, which is what I would follow anyway. I've always used My Fitness Pal in the past to track my food. I do like the idea of a points system though. My dress doesn't fit so I have to get moving Jan 2.

    Ww is a GREAT diet; easy to deal with and very effective. Do use Fitness Pal, and if you can afford it, get yourself a tracker, (I have the fit bit zip, their cheapest model) to keep you on track with exercise.

    From what I remember, (I was on weight watchers a long time ago), lots of veggies, lots of salad, LOTS of water. You'll find things you love; just eat them over and over, lol!

    my faves were;

    egg white omelets

    big salads with lots of veggies and a tiny bit of dressing

    Laughing Cow light cheese (this is amazing; it tastes like 'real' cheese!!!)

    Greek Yougurt

    Also look up Rocco DiSpirito's books, Eat This and Eat This Italian when you get your feet on the ground; i don't know how they work in with the points, but he lightens up lots of great recipes!

    My mom loved weight watchers and always goes back to it when she needs to cut a little bit of weight. Also, Applebees has weight watchers entrees on their menu if you need a place to go out to eat. Good luck!
