Acapella anyone?

AG13, on July 30, 2015 at 10:15 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

Ok so I was listening to spotify and all of the sudden a acapella song comes on. I love acapella groups and I am obsessed with pitch perfect. So I got to wondering do we have any groups around my area? We do.... and they do weddings! So it would be totally weird for them to perform the reception. That wouldn't be as up beat as I would want and I know some people are not complete nerds like me and not really enjoy it haha. I wouldn't want them to do the ceremony because people may be distracted. BUT.... I was thinking it would be cool for them to sing our recessional song and then maybe sing a few songs during cocktail hour? I asked them what they usually do at weddings. I just think it is so cool and they are legit! They are on spotify. They are called the clef hangers. Waiting to hear back on how much it will cost.

A wedding I went to recently had an a capella group perform and sing the recessional (I think?) at the ceremony. It was different and really nice! The bride's father is the advisor of the group (wedding was near a university where he teaches and from which the couple graduated). I think it could work at the ceremony too!

This group is from UNC chapel hill so probably around the same thing. Good to know it worked for someone else. It almost reminds me of the love actually recessional but a little different.

They could sing some popular songs and people would probably dance? They're not from NA, but check out Rajaton. They are SO GOOD. A few of their songs in English would be: Butterfly, Wishing Well, Lady Madonna.

I've seen them live twice. So amazing.

When an a cappella group is good, it's REALLY good IMO. Just so different and captivating. I totally agree with not doing it during the ceremony, but for the reception if you like what this group does, go for it! Smiley smile

I did a wedding several years ago, and the groom was the manager of a R&B group; they sang them in and out of the ceremony. It was galvanizing.

I did another one where the groom was part of the group; they sang the bridal party in, and on his way out, he joined them. It was FANTASTIC!!!

I would use them for ceremony/prelude music, but probably not a reception.

    I VOTE YES!!!!

Our wedding is in December, since our venue is decorated for Christmas we stumbled into a Christmas theme. We are getting married at Sunset on the balcony of the Golf Course Clubhouse and we will have the local high school choir singing acapella Christmas Carols as our guests are being seated for the ceremony. Then the DJ will begin when the ceremony actually starts. It took us FOREVER to find a group to sing and we finally decided on a high school chorus LOL. We think everyone will LOVE IT! At least we hope they will. So YES YES YES! GOOD LUCK!

I have two friends who are amazing vocalists - one soprano and one alto. It has always been my dream for them to sing in my ceremony. They will be singing the processional, bridal entrance, and recessional, all accapella! The acoustics of the chapel will make it sound amazing, and I think the pureness of acapella will make it romantic and emotional. My FH is not as sold, so he wants to hear them sing ahead of time. We have a back up plan of acoustic songs if he doesnt get on board.
