Accessories Appointment

Rachel, on October 16, 2020 at 10:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I bought my wedding dress about a month ago but at the time wasn’t positive about what accessories (veil, headpiece, necklaces, etc.) to buy at the time. The place I bought the dress from gives me a discount on accessories so I’d like to buy them there, plus I can see them in person and see if they’d go well with my dress. Has anyone done an accessories only appointment and can lend some tips on what to buy/look for? And did anyone bring anyone with them to their appointment? Not sure if it would be weird to bring a gust or two for just accessories.

I did an accessories appointment at the place I bought my dress! I brought one friend with. My friend and the consultant helped me figure out what would look best with my dress.

I recommend bringing one, maybe two, people with you. Too many opinions otherwise. Have the dress next to you, and hold things up next to it to see how it looks. Once you find a few you're really considering, try them on with the dress. Take pictures from all angles to see how it looks. Happy shopping!!

I haven't done this, but I agree that you should do it and bring at least one person with you whose opinion and taste you value.

I tried on a veil when I got my dress but didn't buy one. I then ended up finding an identical veil for $50 on Amazon which, even with a discount at the bridal salon, would have been about $200. So just an fyi that the accessories at bridal salons are marked up an insane amount, even with a discount.

I had an accessories appointment at the salon I bought my dress with. I didn’t bring anyone with me, just went by myself. I was able to figure out if I wanted a veil/what veil went well with my dress and found a nice hair piece that matched the beading on my dress. I ended up getting my veil elsewhere (because I wasn’t about to drop almost $400 on a simple, cathedral veil with a pencil edge). It was super low key and my consultant was lovely.

Thanks! I’m impressed you knew exactly what you wanted on your own.

I don’t tend to rely on other’s opinions, so it worked for me. I was able to see how I really felt about things versus if I was being swayed by others’ opinions. I also dress shopped by myself, and it was really great.

Browse the jewelry/shoes/etc at Ross, Burlington, Kohl's, Nordstrom Rack to see what you like best. There's a few recommendations for Etsy shops for veils.
