Acne concerns and makeup artist questions

Rachel, on July 13, 2020 at 1:21 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
Hi, Ladies...

I have had mild acne for as long as I can rememberer. It used to be a lot worse back in the day and now it is manageable and I have a very good skincare routine. Like most people who have skin issues, sometimes you just can’t control or predict a flare up or a new breakout. What I am concerned about it having a major breakout happen on or before my wedding day. I want to go with a great makeup artist that knows what they’re doing when it comes to bridal makeup, etc. and feelS comfortable with covering up any acne blemishes if necessary. Have any of you ladies had experiences with acne and getting your makeup professionally done for events, photo shoots, etc.? Did it help? I’m pretty inexperienced with having my makeup Professionally done and I don’t get crazy with Makeup when I do it on my own. Can most professional makeup artists take care of blemishes or pimples?

I’ve had acne for over 10 years and skin is also one of my main concerns for my day. I was told that airbrush makeup gives full coverage but after my trial, I realized that traditional makeup covered my blemishes a lot better. Youll be able to see after your trial how the artist does but to answer your question, any decent makeup artist should be able to cover mild acne

Definitely discuss this at your trial, but acne is a super common problem that any professional will have experience with handling on for events.

This is my biggest concern for my appearance on my wedding day, too.
I actually have good skin but about 2x annually i get 1 giant cystic pimple on my chin with no notice, no clear reason for the flareup, and it lasts 2 weeks. I am terrified of having one for my big day. I actually have booked a tentative cortisone injection appointment for the week of my wedding in case I have a flare-up. If your acne is the cystic kind this might be worth looking into.

I have acne all the time. I have an intense skincare routine and get professional treatments 1-2 times a month, but I still get acne. I did tell my doctor I'd put a cortisone injection if I got a really bad breakout, but I didn't need to use it. I'd just look for good reviews & pictures you like, most makeup artists should be able to easily cover acne with the right primer & concealer. My HAMU artist did a great job covering up my scarring, pitting, and acne on our wedding day.

A pro will definitely be able to cover up any blemishes or breakouts! Your trial is also a great time to talk about your skin and concerns! During my trial my HMUA and I talked about my skin, that I need extra moisturizer, the types of products I normally use (if anything makes me react), etc.

What will be more important for your skin is taking extra care those last 2 weeks before the wedding! Get sleep, drinks tons of water, eat well, do your best skin regiment, and don't try anything new that could make your skin freak out!

Thank you for the kinda words! I’m
Optimistic now. I’ve come to terms with the fact that my skin will never be perfect and that’s okay, sometimes you can only do so much to lessen the concerns. I only get a couple of “bad” breakouts at a time so I’m hoping those could be a simple fix if necessary. ☺️😊 i also know that photographers can retouch photos if necessary, so that’s another plus!
