Acne Emergency

Stacey, on August 16, 2019 at 12:58 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 18
Getting married Saturday the 24th of August 2019 and my acne is threatening to ruin everything. It's still very noticable with makeup. I had did 6 months of accutane but my acne is coming back fast and getting worse everyday. I will try to post pictures in the picture section to let you see what I am dealing with.

Have you Tried Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser or any Cleanser with Salicylic Acid in it??

My acne is finally getting under control since I've started using Cerave. The key for these face washes is to leave them on for a minuet or two to let the stuff do its job! Also lookup Dr. Dray on Youtube - shes a dermatologist with TONS of great info!

I have and it didn't work. Accutane was the only medication that had a real effect.

I would contact the dermatologist that you worked with for the Accutane treatment asap. They would be better equipped at helping you out, and knows your skin better than anyone on here.

I will also add that acne won't ruin your day if you don't let it. Your FS loves you with or without it.

I would call your derm and set up an appointment. I know there are cortisone shots that will make your pimples shrink dramatically very quickly, that may be a last resort.

I did call my derm. She, who is a very honest and very blunt doctor, said "You will likely have to get married with acne. There isn't anything I can do to make it go away before your wedding day." 😣😣😣

If you have any acne spots that you’ve popped, make sure to treat them immediately after popping: grab a cotton ball, soak with rubbing alcohol, place on your spots, and put Neosporin on them to help them heal. I would ask about what products you use on your face? Can you find an all natural charcoal face bar or mask that doesn’t have any weird ingredients you can’t pronounce in it? Beauty counter has a great mask! You might be able to find something natural at places like Whole Foods or MOM’s Organic Market or something...try to use honey as a mask/moisturizer? You definitely want to make sure you moisturize your skin after cleansing/masking or else it will overproduce oil to compensate for being dry. Just some ideas. It’s up to you if you want to try them or not. Good luck!! 👍🏻

I haven't popped my pimples in years because doing that just makes it much much much worse. I use benzoyl peroxide on my face.

Have you tried changing your diet? I find that my acne gets worse if I eat too much sugar. When I completely avoid added sugar, it starts to clear up significantly within the first few days.

Can you have extractions done at your dermatologist right before the wedding? It won’t be cheap but it works for getting rid of stubborn pimples for a big event.

I’ve never had it done so I don’t know the recovery time. How soon do they fill back up? Would it be possible to do it the evening or morning of your wedding?
I’m sorry you’re going through this hun, it sounds like hell. I just have Roscea and have been trying out skincare products but my skin’s too sensitive even for that so I have an allergic reaction right now lol. Beauty be damned, being a bride is hard.

I get minor breakouts on my face but my back acne is insane. I've tried really hard to have it calm down the last 3 months (getting married on the 31st)
I cut out dairy completely and within 2 weeks it made a HUGE difference. Another thing that really helped is pedialyte it's expensive but I drink 2-3 a week and my skin is glowing I still have some huge pimples but the redness is gone.

Aww I’m so sorry. It sounds like your dermatologist is doing the best she can. Smiley sad Since your wedding is so soon I’d just try to avoid any possible food triggers. No sugar or starch. Eat lots of fish. Good vitamins and water too. I don’t know if it will help but it’ll make your body feel good at least.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I had the WORST acne for 3 years until last year. Something that helped me a lot was Alani Nu Balance, drinking a ton of water, and keeping my skincare routine simple and the EXACT same every week. I'm not sure if this will help in the time before your wedding, but long term may help!
