Acne/rash One Week Out from Ceremony

Nicole, on October 3, 2020 at 8:18 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 2 7

Hi everyone!

I have never had acne in my adult life, but of course, now my skin decides to freak out with only one week to go until our "minimony/microwedding"! I have been to a derm because I also have a terrible rash from a reaction to medication. Now I have the acne and I am so self conscious. I have done all OTC treatments. No time to see a derm this week as I am also sitting for the bar exam in two days (likely why my skin has broken out). Suggestions on how to at least make it look flatter under foundation for pictures? Redness reducing serums/creams? Anything is appreciated Smiley heart

Hmmmm have you spoken to your HMUA for suggestions or tips? I dunno but for a lot of things people say exfoliate but not sure if that will make it worse. I am so sorry this is happening honey. I hope it clears up but drink tons of water.

I agree with PP... flush out your system with water. I had my eyebrows waxed one week before- first time in 10 years- well, she ripped a layer of skin off and my brows were all bloody scabs! I was sick to my stomach. I did multiple sea moss gel masks everyday until the wedding and they were gone, thankfully.
I would definitely ask your HMUA as well.
    Best wishes 💕

I would call your dermatologist to ask for specific recommendations. If you had a reaction to a medication, you might be susceptible to having allergic reactions to topical products and adding a new rash would not improve your situation. They should be able to prescribe or recommend something that's safe for your specific skin. If you've seen them recently, they should be able to do this without seeing you in person.

    Good luck with your exam!

I agree with this! If you have raised blemishes, I would recommend wearing patches (referenced above) overnight - only if they won’t interfere with the medication, of course. In my experience, they help to draw out the junk and make the skin more level, but they don’t help with the redness. I like the CosRX brand - they come in a variety of sizes. However, one word of caution: when I wore them back-to-back for 24 hours, it irritated my skin (causing more redness) and my make-up artist had a difficult time covering it.

Not sure what kind of acne you’re dealing with but I spot-treat single pimples with topical benzol peroxide (acne med) then after that dries, a dab of cortisone cream which helps reduce swelling and redness. You know how sometimes you can feel a pimple coming on before you can really see it? Like there’s a little sore spot but it isn’t red yet? When I catch them early like that I can often prevent an actual pimple from forming at all.

I'm sure it's all stress related. My FH and my mom are both breaking out badly. Me, I'm good. LOL... I feel bad for the two of them though. Once you relax things will ease up and it will all work out.
