Acrylic Invitations and the Post Office

Morgan , on March 21, 2019 at 11:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Is anyone else using acrylic invitations or sent them already?

I’m terrified of mine being broken on their way to my guests. From what I’ve read, there is no way to guarantee the invitation will not be put through a sorter machine.

Make sure you get it stamped non- machinable.. but the price will also be a little different so that should also help the clerks know they aren’t to be put in the machine you’ll more than likely have to pay the postage plus the surcharge for non machinable items which is .15 cent well atleast here where I am may be different where you reside but I’d just take them to the counter and they should be able to assist you 😬

Actually, you can pay extra top have them done by hand. That's what we did.

Hi Morgan! I think the best advice I can give you is to go and speak to someone in your local post office. If you bring a sample invitation with you, you can explain your worry to them. They will be able to explain the process you should take to ensure that your invitations arrive to your guests in perfect condition!

Did you have any issues with them breaking? How heavy of an envelope did you use?

No, none were reported as broken to us, but they were just the save the dates they were 2x3. We are using the 5x7 for invitations so we'll see one we send them out.

I'm concerned as well as I have Save The Date acrylic magnets that are needing to be sent. They'll be with a card and stuck in an envelope. The Post Office told me to today that these need to be mailed as a package?!! and would cost $4 each to send. He didn't realize these were save the date invitations and have over a hundred to send. He said if I stuck a forever stamp on the envelope and tried to mail it, that it would get sent back to me.. this is FRUSTRATING!! His reasoning was because acrylic is not bendable and it can not go through their machines. I know birthday cards have become more complex these days, and those are being sent through USPS.. why would the acrylic have a problem??

The acrylic invotations need to be stamped by the post office "non machinable" and they cost $1.00 to mail so 2 stamps are sufficient

What did you end up doing? I'm having the same issue. Wondering if I shouldn't have told the clerk and just mailed them with the stamps anyway - along with having them stamped as non machinable

    Hello,

What type of envelopes did everyone use to mail your acrylic invitations to prevent breakage?
