Acrylic Invitations??

Private User, on January 15, 2015 at 3:50 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Has anyone ever seen an acrylic wedding invite? Either received them or used them? I can't decide if they're totally awesome or totally tacky (which usually means tacky - haha!- but I really like them!)

We're having a small guest list of about 80, so it's like 40 invites, which means them costing $10-$15 isn't a huuuuuge deal, but I'm not sure if they're as much of a wow factor as my brain is making them out to be.

Here's one I saw on Etsy - http://tinyurl.com/pvgr9j7

I've never heard of them, but they are nice. You could maybe order ones for your close family and get regular invites for everyone else. Personally, I wouldn't want a little plaque with my friends wedding info on it, but I know my mom would love that...

I like them, but the cost is far more than I think it is worth it. Who will really keep them after the wedding?

I also like them, but I would rather just have a customized gift for people like my parents who would keep the invitations as a keepsake.

That's a really great idea! You're right - not sure who would want to keep it other than super close family. Maybe I'll pick out a great cheaper invite for 80% and then have someone custom make ones to match in the acrylic. There are some people in my family who are like SUPER sentimental and they want to keep everything (movie tickets, programs from graduations, fortune cookie fortunes, everything!) so it would be nice to get them something nicer.

But would you be mad if you found out that you go the crappier invite? Haha

Cool idea, but not practical. They'd also probably cost more to mail. The extra money would probably be better spent elsewhere in the budget, but that's just my opinion.

Can you recycle them? I'm kind of a hippie, but that's a lot of garbage depending on how big your guest list is. I have my eco-wedding glasses on, though.

I would not be mad and I think your friends would understand that its more of a sentimental thing. If you want to spend money on it then more power to ya. But to be honest, I would keep it for a while, then throw it away when I start cleaning my junk drawer. It's up to you!

They are pretty and unique. I don't know what your budget is like but I think the money could go to something better. Everyone except for yourself and your parents are going to throw out the invitations once your wedding is over.
