Acrylic manicure one week before wedding!

Bride, on October 1, 2019 at 1:11 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12
My bridesmaids and maid of honor all made appointments to get our nails done the Saturday before my wedding. I was like sure why not, sounds good. Since then I’ve heard that I shouldn’t get a manicure more than 3 days before the wedding.
Do you think my acrylics will look fine in a week? Everyone in my bridal party has a variable work schedule and had to request the Saturday off, so if I change my mind I’ll be stuck going to the salon solo.

I've had acrylics last anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. I think they'll look perfectly fine after a week.

You shouldn't have any issues with acrylics after only a week.

I wouldn't stress it. If it's a new set put on that day, then they will definitely still look great!! But, should you choose to go later, then you can just get a pedi when you BMs go.

"Since then I’ve heard that I shouldn’t get a manicure more than 3 days before the wedding." - Where did you hear this? I have never heard that, is there a reason that went along with it?

I think acrylics will be fine, I am not a fan of fake nails so I have no real comment, but my coworker gets her nails done every other week and they always look perfect to me.

I was wondering on this too. I could see maybe if a "manicure" meant getting your natural nails painted, I suppose they'd be more prone to chipping than with fake nails. I've only had acrylics a handful of times, I use press-ons from Walmart for any special occasions and even those last a week! Smiley xd

I guess it depends on your nail growth, but I have obvious regrowth within a week. That also gives more time for chips and/or breakage. I agree with whoever told you to wait until closer to the wedding.

It depends on how picky you are. I typically have a tiny bit of grow out after a week. I got mine done two days before the wedding, but I get them done all the time and have had them on for 10 years straight so I'm super super picky about them.

I wouldn't have a problem with acrylics after just a week, but I get mine done all the time. If you aren't used to acrylics, or don't normally have them, you could have a lot of outgrowth after a week. It would look like you're in need of a fill. I've never heard of that 3-day thing, but in this case, you may want to consider it, simply so you don't have a bunch of obvious outgrowth. I totally get that you want to do this activity with your ladies, if possible. I would just get a pedi when you're with them, then get the nails about 2-3 days before the wedding.

Well I reread the statement like 10 times and I think I read it wrong the first 9 times!! I have natural nails and I plan to get a gel manicure 2 days before and will purchase the same polish incase I have to do any touch ups in the 2 days.... More likely I'll end up doing my nails the night before, but I LOVE doing my nails and normally do them like very 2 or 3 days.

I’m having a destination wedding, so I’ll have my nails done before we leave. I always get gel nails, and it’ll be almost a week beforehand and I’m sure it’ll stay just fine. As long as you don’t take up gardening or decide to spring clean your house with heavy cleaning chemicals, you shouldn’t have any problems.

I am getting mine done five days before the wedding. I will have some growth because my nails grow fast, but I don't think anyone would notice at all. You wont be able to tell in the pictures unless its a close up of your ring. Worst case scenario you can always just head to a salon the day before to get them filled! That doesn't take very long and it'll fix you right up.

It depends on nail growth, I get my nails done every 2 weeks normally but will make sure my nails are done about 3 days before my wedding.
