Hi all,

I wanted to share my favorite DIY from our wedding – our acrylic seating chart!

This was placed on a large butlers station at our venue during cocktail hour, with floating candles and greenery behind it. I clearly loved it!

Here’s the inspo pic:

And here’s some pics of my DIY in action:

How I did it:

Since we had 150 people and twelve tables (with 10-20 people depending on the table) I ordered guest names alphabetically. To do this I typed names in Microsoft word, and put them in alphabetical order. Since the acrylic sheets were 12x12 I knew I would use one printed sheet of paper for each acrylic sheet. It’s not challenging, we just had a TON of H’s since MILs maiden name started with an H, and my last name/ dad’s last name was an H, so I had to figure out where to cut off and start a new page. After printing the names I placed the acrylic on top of each printed paper, and traced away with a white paint pen. It was SUPER easy! The stands I purchased from etsy.

Side note, you can test the ability to remove the paint pen by using nail polish remover in a small corner. We had an incident where someone forgot their dates name and we had to change it. I actually found this funny. How??? Hah.

Cost

Acrylic for names – $54.38

Acrylic for ‘your seat awaits’ - $7.99

White paint pen – I had one laying around, but probably a few dollars at Michael’s or JoAnn’s

Wood stands – $18

TOTAL: $80.37

As seen elsewhere: $200

I am beyond ecstatic another FB sent me this link... I am absolutely in LOVE with this idea for place cards. My theme is chic rustic and this would work perfectly. I would love to put in my own style into when making it. Thank you sooo soo much for sharing this.

It looks great! Thanks for sharing the materials. I love acrylic look 😍

I thought you’d have to use Cricut for this, so I love that you just used paint pen to trace the letters. Are you happy with how the letters turned out, they look neat etc? I assume paint pen has to be really fine point? Would this one work? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D2LC8LH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bYXXCb84F07D9

I actually used a really big paint pen for the whole thing (names and "your seat awaits"), so yes, I think the fine ones you linked will work.

I would note, you might want a big one for the "your seat awaits" or you'll be coloring that in forever. You could see a little of the 'dots' from where I started and ended with the pen, but it didn't show up in ANY photos and I don't think it was noticeable by guests either.

That said, I wanted to avoid cricut for this. Just too complicated. We had a prior DIY fail with that for marble placecards so I didn't want to venture into that again...

Smaller your seat awaits acrylic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078JWRWWB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    larger acrylic for names: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LNRV9V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think some of the etsy ones are 8x11 and these are 12x12, which was fine by me!

That sounds great! Thank you for the additional tips. I agree about Cricut. I don’t have one, which is why I gave up on this acrylic idea. But now I’m totally going to do it! 🙂

Wow! That's amazing. I was thinking about doing something similar to that for our seating chart off of Etsy.

    From this etsy seller: https://www.etsy.com/listing/586613496/wooden-stands-for-acrylic-wooden-stands?ref=shop_home_active_47&frs=1

I told them the size of the acrylic and they created a custom order for me.
