Hi I created my own design using Adobe Spark and ordered it off of Aliexpress. $20 for 10 invites. Ordered 40 and they look just like it did on my laptop

Basic Invite is great but their acrylic isn't the stiff kind. It's thin but pretty beautiful. That's what we're using for our wedding on top of another card I designed. Honestly, I'm not sure if there's a way to DIY acrylic invites that would be less time and more cost effective than buying them from someone else. From buying the sheets, getting them cut, hand lettering (or even applying decals with small font) is a lot. My advice would be to find someone on Etsy to do it. I've had so many clients feel they could take on a DIY project that large and complex, and it typically ends up being more than they expected.

Found this discussion since I would like to do clear invites for my daughter's grad party. On youtube they suggested acetate paper (https://youtu.be/89Ac8LfFSc4). Found it a bid flimsy. Since my husband just bought a UV color printer he is going to try and see if he can do them. The least expensive clear acrylic I found was on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K88A8R4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_Su1hEbYCGS0Q8). We recently were invited to a wedding that used clear invites from basicinvites and found that they use 15 mil plastic (bendable but not as stiff as acylic). We than found 15 and 20 mil clear presentation covers (TC158.5X11S & TC208.5X11S). mybinding.com sells them by thickness or size)
(not sure how good these are but we are going to buy a pack and test them out. Just thought to share since this discussion led me to what I found.
