Adding Kids To The rsvp List?

Samantha, on July 31, 2019 at 11:12 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

Are any of you adding people's children as part of your guest count? There's going to be 10 children under 10 (2 will be under 2) at the wedding or do you only count the adults? I'll obviously make sure there's enough food but they won't eat the same amount as an adult. Just curious!

We counted all adults & children. "Every butt needs a seat." You want to ensure everyone has plenty of room / tables. And you can always tell your caterer that 10 of your final guest count are children.

I initially didn't count small children who needed baby seats because my venue told me they don't have to be counted within my count but I did it anyway since I was short the minimum I needed and adding them in there helped boost it.

We have to count them for chair purposes and our count is the same for food because our venue has in-house catering.

We had plated dinners, and children were cheaper. We provided a count with a breakdown (# adults, # children, # vendors).

As PPs said, count on each child sitting in their own chair!

If you’re inviting them, you need to include them in the count, and know if they’re coming! Everyone needs a chair and place setting. Different venues/caterers handle kids differently, but I would specify the breakdown in the count (# adults, #children)

We included children in our count as well. Our cater is adjusting the food for the kiddos.

I added them to my guest list, so I knew exactly how many bodies would be there, but I'm not counting kids under 2 as plates. However, I booked my caterer with an extra 25 people to ensure I had enough food for everyone.

We did, but a separate count because they didn't have the open bar cost or the full meal cost!

If they're coming keep a separate tally for things like high chairs and children's menus

We are counting all children and adults. They need some place to seat, and they need food. to save myself any confusion I added them to my guest count. Plus I needed the count for the caterer, we will have a children's menu

I counted kids who would need seats but not babies because I felt they would just sit on the parents lap. But now reading everyone’s comments maybe I should’ve counted the babies too.

If we were to have kids there, our venue charged us depending on their age. 2 and under was free, 2-12 was half the full pp price, and 12-20 was 10 dollars off (basically for the alcohol they wouldnt be drinking). We only invited 1 person under 21, my 17 yr old cousin, but she cant make it. If you have to pay for them, definitely include them in the count! Even if it's a buffet style, depending on the age of the kid, they can sometimes eat a lot! My nephew is 11 and currently eating my brother out of house and home 🤣🤣🤣

It depends on your caterer and how they would like you to add them normally! Definitely document their ages so you can try to get a discount.
