Adding photos in Thank You Notes

Carly, on December 6, 2017 at 12:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

This may seem like common sense for some, but I figured I would ask just the same to get a broader perspective. I had Thank You notes printed of my new H's photography from our beautiful venue in the mountains, the pictures don't have us in them, they're landscape. My question is would it be tacky to include a photo of us from the wedding with the note? A lot of our family was out of town, and not all of them tech savvy enough to enjoy the dropbox we designed. While I am having DVDs made, they won't be ready for a bit and we don't want to delay our Thank Yous any longer.

Maybe for close relatives, but i wouldnt know what to do with a picture of a couple. Its not ilke id hang it on my wall. It'd probably get tossed.

I've had a few pals over the years do that--and honestly, unless they're super close friends, i've thrown them out. our photog did cards for us with a picture of the 2 of us, but if the cost hadn't been super reasonable, i would've just gone with regular non-photo thank you notes. yours sound like they are personal in a different way, which is really lovely.

Sending a picture with the thank you is an old fashioned notion. It made a little more sense back in the day before social media, computers/email (yes, I was born in 1960 so I lived through those archaic times), when the only way to see a pictures was to see a printed one. However, even when I got those pictures, I never knew what to do with them and they eventually went in the trash. What am I going to do with wallet size photos of someone else's wedding portrait?

Save your money and save your guests from feeling bad about throwing out your picture. Send your thank you notes now!

You could do this for like parents/grandparents/godparents who would be interested, but know that I wouldn't keep a couples picture of any friends or cousins so it'd be wasted on me

I think it's a cute idea and I'd personally like to have a friend's wedding picture to put on my fridge for a while. You sending it saves your guest the trouble of printing it out, and while they might throw it out eventually, it's a nice touch.

We ordered our thank you notes with a picture from our wedding day on them. I wouldn't include extra prints unless it is one with that person in them.

Thank you for all the perspective. Photos for close family (most of the friends are tech savvy generation), and I love the idea of sending some of the great shots of my guests back to them.

    Happy Holidays to all!

FH got a thank-you card from a wedding he attended that had a candid shot of him dancing in it. He LOVED it and we're planning to do the same for ours...try to get each guest a photo of themselves at the wedding in the thank-you card.
