Adding straps to my strapless wedding dress

Your dress is kind of similar to mine. I had straps added. The seamstress did it but she made it seem very easy.

I think really thin beaded straps would be beautiful

That's a gorgeous gown with pretty intricate details! I would see if they can take the lace after they hem it, and make straps out of that, so the pattern matches.

Oh that's a great idea! Yeah that's been part of the problem is I can't find lace that looks similar enough to add to the dress, but if they can take it off that would be perfect!

What a gorgeous dress! The seamstress at the store should be able to recommend straps for your dress.

Adding straps to that style gown definitely should be easy for a professional seamstress. Like you said, FINDING the right strap is the key. I like the suggested idea of using any scrap hemming material, but I also can see a thin beaded strap being quite stunning as well. Have fun playing around with all the different ideas.

I vote no straps. I think it is pretty as is.

What a beautiful dress! I agree that straps should be easy and the main thing will be finding the right ones - for my vote, a thin sparkly strap would be my choice!

I have a Justin Alexander dress also and I wanted straps but ended up with a strapless dress I really like. I’m also debating on adding straps or not. For you I think your dress is really pretty as is

Since you want straps, and have a slimmer build, but a dress that is more of a full A-line, I would suggest spaghetti straps that are lightly beaded (tiny beads) in a pearl tone that compliments your dress.

If you aren't happy with spaghetti straps alone, I would either have a slim strip of lace over the spaghetti strap

Or

A off-shoulder cap sleeve with a spaghetti strap.

You can use the fabric from your alterations.

I have a strapless but asked them to add straps. Didn’t seem like it was an issue.
