Adding straps to the strapless dress. Who has done it? Was it worth it?

BEinKeyWest, on August 12, 2017 at 8:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hey there fellow brides! I'm debating adding these lace straps to my dress and then lowering the back. Have any of you added straps to your dress? Pros? Cons? Any help (and pictures) would be really helpful. Thank you!

I am doing this! I haven't done it for my wedding dress yet, but I also did it for my prom dress. We took extra lace from the corset strings and used that for matching straps (mine was a hard color to match). They made just standard spaghetti straps which I would recommend against as they kept falling down (may have been my tailor though) so for my wedding dress I purchased a belt and am having them make it into a halter top. I personally did not want a strapless dress, but of course I fell in love with one. Here's a pic with the belt, sorry it's not very clear though.

No pics yet, but I am customizing the straps on my dress. They made it sound pretty easy and inexpensive to do. My dress has beaded trim running up the bodice and they are just going to continue that beading up the straps. Your dress is beautiful and I LOVE those straps, they will give it a gorgeous vintage look!

Thanks all! I really appreciate the help.

Also - I just looked up how to change my profile so it doesn't say private user. Sorry about that!

I will be adding straps to mine! My first appointment is Tuesday. They will look like this (minus pink bra straps!).

I am planning on adding straps for more support. I have a large bust and for my own piece of mind, I'd rather have straps

I am considering this because I really want a ball gown and it's so hard to find beautiful ones with straps. So I'm considering it. I think it would look awesome. Those straps you chose are beautiful.

I personally had straps added to my dress. I am smaller in the bust area so I wanted to feel more secure so I did a cross cross spaghetti strap and it couldn't have turned out better. She used the lace from hemming my dress.

I didn't add straps to my dress , I am adding what is called shoulder jewelry to my dress. The jelwery attaches to my bra in front then attaches in the back like a necklace...and has pearls and jewels that are on and down the shoulder. There are tons of different kinds of shoulder jewelry for dresses if you pull them up off the internet

This is what my shoulder jelwery looks like except I changed the front so it comes down and connects to my bra instead of across my chest

The nice thing about shoulder jewelry is if there is any imperfections you don't like about your shoulders or your back, the little bit of bling helps. People will be looking at that instead, it really works, I seen it at a bridal show and that is all I noticed on the run way show, on the lovely bride that wore it. So that is where I got the idea from

Beautiful dress! I'm not fond of strapless dresses so my vote would be for the straps!
