Addressing Outer Envelopes

Spunky kraut, on March 8, 2011 at 11:54 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Ok, so I decided that I'm going to print our outer envelopes using a calligraphy font. I found the font I liked and downloaded it. Tonight our printer started acting up and is not printing correctly. I don't need to print the envelopes right away BUT I don't trust our printer. What are my options? If I take them somewhere (like Kinko's) to print will I still be able to use the font I want? Do I have to set them up in Word and save on a USB or something? How would that work? HELP!

Kinkos is awesome! We had our labels printed there and it cost us $1.50 all together. I was having major problems getting them right on my own printer so it saved us a lot of hassel.

We brought in our labels (already made in a word document using the template) on a USB and we had already bought the labels (we wanted clear ones). I've heard that you can also e-mail it to them, but I didn't ask about that myself. Call them if you aren't sure, they are really helpful Smiley smile

I was planning to print directly onto our envelopes and so I inquired with the invitation company about the dimensions of the envelopes. They emailed the dimensions back with the caveat that they don't recommend printing right on them because they get jammed in the printer. Could that be the problem? You might need to use labels, we did that for our STDs after we got that message back. Make sure you have the correct labels, we used laser labels in our ink jet printer and that didn't work at all! So much trial and error... ack.

Kinko's won't be able to print directly on the envelopes, unfortunately. They can print labels for you though.

Buy the Avery clear labels. You get 300 labels for $3.00, use a template, and print. Honestly, I couldn't figure out how to get my addresses transferred from weddingwire toword, so my Fh did that part and the printing. He already knew how to do it from work.

@Rosie - that is extremely unfortunate!

My recommendation is a good writing pen and if need be, some friends with good enough handwriting to help.

Hopefully, you have a laser printer. I don't trust ink jet printers because if the envelope is exposed to water and the ink smears, the post office might not be able to deliver it.

Thanks everyone for your advice! Yeah, I'm torn...my handwriting (cursive) is not wonderful so I thought printing a calligraphy font would be great until my envelope jammed and the printing was streaky. Yeah, that's not good. Think it's time for clear labels. Smiley smile
