Adiamor ring bending.. Help!

Marissa, on December 4, 2020 at 12:41 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9
HELP! My two month old 14k gold adiamor ring was completely bent Onto my finger causing a couple small diamonds to fall out. I didn’t smash my hand and would have noticed if I did! The ring was completely perfect when I put it on but I looked at my hand and saw the bend. They have a lifetime warranty if manufactured issues.. I called customer service and they said it’s highly unlikely it’s a manufacturing issue, has anyone ever had anything like this happen?!?
The guy even said 14k is a hard metal?Adiamor ring bending.. Help! 1

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! If you did not have a significant accident with your ring (which obviously you would know if you did), I would go immediately to a jeweler and have the ring inspected to see if it’s real! I have never seen 14 karat gold bend like that. It should take significant trauma to cause that sort of damage to a 14 carat ring.

Oh no 😥 do you have insurance on it? If so file a claim to get it fixed. I also agree with Chrysta to get it appraised to make sure that it's real

Ugh, sorry op. That happened to me once. The ring kind of saved me from being fractured by a heavy weight. The ring was 14k too. 14k doesn’t mean it can’t be bent. Especially when it’s rather a thinner ring band like ours. Make sense? A jeweler can fix it, it costed me around $150 but that was over 2 decades ago. It was a complicated fix because it was woven gold band. You can easily send a picture or get a free estimate in person. Good luck 🍀

Oh no!! I would definitely get back in touch with their customer service team and have them fix the ring!

Gold is pliable so it can definitely warp on your fingers - especially if the band is too thin, the ring is too big on your finger, or if you wear your ring and exert any type of heavy pressure (tightly gripping something or lifting heavy objects).

My thoughts exactly. High quality rings should not do that. I would definitely have it checked!

Agree! Contact the store where you purchased it. Quality rings should not bend like that!

Pure gold is a soft metal, so to be used for jewelry, it’s mixed with other metals to make it less resistant to bending. Thus higher carats of gold (24K, 18K) are more prone to bending and warping than lower carats (10K, 14K).
In the case of 14K, it should be more resistant (since it’s about 58% gold) but the width and fit of the ring are all factors in disfiguring it. With that being said, a 14K ring can only take on that shape after having taken some type of serious damage or repeated (even if it minor) impacts over time. Even other metals used for rings (sterling silver platinum, palladium, titanium, tungsten) are all much stronger than gold and wouldn’t warp like that...

I am unfortunately finding that out 😞 the ring was a half size too big and I kept wearing it. I’m just glad the main diamond didn’t fall out. I hear it isn’t too much to fix so that makes me feel better. Thanks for the help!
