Advice for addressing gold envelopes?

Caitlin, on August 15, 2018 at 11:57 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16
I ordered these gorgeous antique gold envelopes for our invitations. I used clear labels to address our STDs and was going to do the same thing for our invitations, but I tried one and they look awful. The clear isn't so clear on the gold. Has anyone else had gold envelopes? Any advice besides writing by hand? Thanks!!

I have gold envelopes but I splurged for the printing by my designer.

Are there any clear labels that are more cell-like? Look for "crystal clear" vs frosted.....

Do you have a printer you can print directly on the envelope. That is how I did all of our RSVP cards.

I have a printer but I'm not the most tech savvy and thought the labels would be easier. I may try this though. Thanks!!

Google how to print on envelopes. It will show you how to format the text so your printer will do it correctly. ((Test it first!))

Depending on how thick your envelopes are, you may have trouble printing directly onto them from your printer. I just did mine like this, and I had such a terrible time and my envelopes were plain white and normal thickness. If you do this, practice on extra envelopes first!

I had the same envelopes for our STDs! I used the below Avery labels that were completely clear without that annoying frosted effect. We used them on our invitations, too!

Do you have a picture of what they look like on the envelope? I plan on using these clear labels. Did you have Avery print all the addresses on them or did you do it yourself?

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the gold ones, but I do have a picture from our dark green metallic wedding invitation envelopes!

I printed the labels myself. I wanted to make sure I had the files setup correctly so I could re-use them for the invitations, bridal shower thank you cards, and wedding thank you cards.

The light reflects off of the glossy labels a lot, but that's the trade-off for not having them look frosty. You can see the labels pretty clearly in the picture because of the light reflecting on them when I took the picture. They're very shiny in-person and completely see-thru.

Hand write or print on them, if you can.

Intending no disrespect to anyone who used them, I really dislike labels on invites. It is one of those things for me.. It looks inexpensive, and gives a very casual vibe to me. I agree with Cuoghi, that you should either hand do them, or print directly on the envelopes.

It would be tedious but if you have a printer at home, you could print on each one individually. I used similar silver envelopes and had them handwritten with a fine point sharpie (it doesn't smudge or smear). My MOH is my sister and does calligraphy. Clear labels don't work well but you could always get gold labels as another option is labels are easiest. Avery has options for gold labels or white labels with a gold border.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I ended up figuring out how to print on them! It took awhile with having to change the addresses each time but happy with them! It's all I've got! Lol!

Printing would be best for sure. If you are worried about your own tech savviness, perhaps look into hiring someone (there are apps for like odd jobs and whatnot).

Honestly, I had champagne gold and silver envelopes and I just put a white label on it. It still looked fine and people are just going to throw it away as soon as they rip it open
