Advice for Planning an Out of State Wedding

We were debating on a wedding in my home state (Nebraska, and currently live in NJ) and if I did that then I would have hired a planner, just because I wouldn't have been able to travel back as often as I'd have liked to see and do things myself.

I lived in Massachusetts and my then-fiancé lived in Connecticut when we planned our Florida wedding. I realize it’s not feasible for all couples, but I strongly suggest building in traveling to your wedding site into your wedding budget. We went twice—once to tour venues and sign our contract, and once to do our tasting, engagement photos and hair and makeup trial. It was critical for us that we know our food, have a rapport with a photographer and that I feel comfortable with beauty. I wouldn’t have felt good about our wedding without these steps.
