Advice needed: How did you remain calm?

Hi ladies, I'm brand new here! My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3.5 years and have been discussing marriage for a little over a year. We already have our date picked out and a venue chosen, but he hasn't yet done a formal proposal as he was waiting for my ring to arrive. Welll... it arrived bright and early yesterday morning, and I had to sign for it because he was at work. Now he's at work this morning, the ring is about 5 ft from me, and I'm dying to see it. I know that he doesn't plan on waiting long to give it to me as the date we have chosen is next September. What did you ladies do to remain calm when you knew the proposal could happen at any time?! I love that everything as been an open discussion, but I know he also wants to catch me off guard a bit.
