Advice Please!! Makeup & hair at the resort venue for the wedding or hire a stylist for salon services and have them come onsite?

Kaylee, on May 15, 2019 at 11:15 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4

Hi Ladies,

I keep going back and forth on whether to get my makeup and hair done at the resort as it is included in my wedding contract - and i would just add on my bridesmaid for makeup only. However, there aren't many photos online of hair and makeup services from the resort and for the trial my coordinator can't guarantee it will be the same stylist who does it at the wedding.

It is cheaper at the resort and the coordinator says most all bride get their hair and makeup done there and love it. However, when i talk to the recommended stylist at the salon that is separate from the resort, she says nearly all brides that get there services for bridesmaids love it and end up wanting to switch to have their hair and makeup done with them instead of the resort-of course it is more expensive to get my services and Bridesmaid makeup done with the stylist (by $250-$300).

I'm challenged because I don't want to spend more if they do good work at the resort however I have received two different messages and cannot find much on the resort salon and stylist.

The resort is Pueblo Bonito Pacifica.

The salon I considering is Blanc Bridal Salaon.

Someone help a girl out with some hair and makeup advice!! Thanks so much in advance.

Is this in Cabo San Lucas?? If so, I did a google search and they have 37 good reviews and about 18 reviews with 5 starts on yelp!!! I’m also doing a DW and I’m worry about this as well, since it’s included in my package but I also don’t want to spend $$ extra..

Yep, you got it! It is in Cabo. I've looked at a lot of the spa reviews for the resort but can't seem to find much that touches on the makeup and hair styling services. Mostly the reviews are geared toward the massages, steam room, etc.

They should be open to sending you photos of their work (from the resort), if they’re not, spend the extra money and go to the salon (if you like the photos they show of their work.)

Any professional hair or makeup artist has tons of photos they could easily provide to you, and if they won’t do that, I would not use them, free or not. It’s not an unreasonable request to want to see prior to the big day.

I've heard mixed reviews on resort provided hair/makeup (not specific to this resort of course) - so I may be more leery than most.

    Hi Kaylee!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

I can see how difficult a decision this is, you don’t want to have to spend more money unless you need to!

As the previous poster mentioned, if you reach out to the resort salon or the coordinator, I’m sure they would send you more photos along. They may not be tech savvy and have them online!

If you do decide to go with the salon, if you plan on having a rehearsal or welcome dinner, could you ask the resort to do your hair and make up for that event instead, so at least you don’t feel like you’re losing out on this part of your contract? Could be a great compromise!
