Advice please! Wisteria Flowers for Ceremony or Reception? *pics in comments also*

FutureMrsMerritt, on December 14, 2014 at 7:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

For my wedding I would like to have some floral decorations, however it is not in the budget to do both ceremony and reception with them. I know the ceremony will only last 20 minutes and the FH says to put them in the reception because I will be able to see them for longer (Ceremony/ Reception are in two different rooms). I really would like wisteria flowers. My first idea would be to decorate just the arch and the aisle chairs with the wisteria for the ceremony. In the Reception I would put them hanging from the top of the tent, either from the sides like the one picture or from right underneath the tent with the lanterns. Which one would you do? I feel like the ceremony with these would be so magical and whimsical, but the reception we will be in longer and it would be a nice touch to have it like "raining flowers" From the ceiling with all the lights.

Very pretty do you already have your venue picked? I'm just wondering how high the ceilings at the reception would be that would determine how long the wisteria would need to be and if you would need any special equipment to get the flowers up there like a crane or lift

Also since you are watching your budget have you seen this tutorial http://ruffledblog.com/diy-paper-wisteria-backdrop/

Yes my venue is at a manor with a garden. My reception will be in the patio area. The ceiling isn't to high, a latter would do. The wisteria I was looking at isn't as long as the ones in the pictures. I wouldn't want guest to be bothered by it by having it to close to their head when they stand (that would be annoying haha). I was going to get a garland of wisteria to wrap around. The top of the tent has these long metal rods ( not horribly ugly) but it would cover them up for sure! So it would be easier to hang rather then doing it all piece by piece which is also time consuming.

You're thinking fake ones, right? Thats what all my venues do. They're beautiful!

Wisteria is magical and repurposed floral decor is a great idea. I'm glad you've chosen reproductions and not the genuine article. Are you DIYing this, or are you paying a designer to do the work? I don't know how many stems you're buying or how many tables you have, but you could absolutely have a wedding planner (or someone close to you) pull out all of the wisteria stems after the ceremony. During cocktail hour, they could put two or three stems (depending on how many stems and tables you have) and place them right into an eiffle tower vase (you can spray paint those vases -- silver, gold, white, black light pink, light purple...whatever. It's easy). Or you could hang them from the ceiling as you stated. But definitely, reuse them.

Great flower choice. I hope you can find someone to help do it the way you envision. That will be so pretty.

You can have it on an arch and put the arch behind the sweetheart table after the ceremony.
