Advice/Opinions on hand warmers for an outdoor wedding

Nicole, on January 10, 2014 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I'm getting married in a short (20 minutes or so) outdoor ceremony in March. We'll have a tent in case it rains. I have this idea to have a big wooden bucket (the nice looking kind) filled with hand warmers on the way outside with a sign that says "We'll warm your hearts, these will warm your hands."

Is this cheesy? Cute? Thoughts? Do you have a different idea for the sign?

If it's cold enough to need handwarmers, it's probably too cold to have an outside ceremony ....

@Kate, that's the thing, we wont know the weather until the week of. It's mid March in Oregon, so sometimes its rainy and cold and sometimes its sunny and perfect. The hand warmers will only be for the former. But there's no other place to have the ceremony. We're telling people to bring jackets for the ceremony portion. I am secretly hoping for rain so I can hold a bright yellow umbrella during the whole thing (can you imagine the pictures!) but I'm sure my guests would prefer sun. We'll see.

There's no Plan B? I guess your guests are used to the weather so they would be able to bear it. I will be very honest, if it's cold and rainy out, I might admire your wedding from afar. Like my heated car. I'm sorry. But then again, March in NJ are never kind. Maybe it's a little nicer in Oregon.

"We'll warm your hearts, these will warm your hands."

    or

"Our vows will warm your hearts, these will warm your hands."

@Out the Window, the rain here is really not bad. It's not that cold, just wet. The hand warmers won't be a necessity. People would be fine without them, but I just think it would be a nice touch. And @Nancy, I like vows better! @Alyssa, Thanks! That makes me feel betterSmiley smile

Love it! And I disagree that if it's cool enough for hand-warmers, it's too cold for an outdoor ceremony. (We've done ceremonies in the snow--a little rain is a piece of cake!)

Nicole, your comment about the umbrella reminded me of this wedding that one of my officiants did in California. Personally, I think every outdoor wedding needs a cool umbrella as a prop! (In case you're wonderin' this couple were married in a 2-person elopement under the redwoods and then they hiked off into the woods--complete with backpacks! And she was pregnant. They were awesome!)
