Affordable MD Venue Ideas??

I am trying to find a venue for a 2018 wedding and am having trouble finding something affordable that fits my general "criteria". I'm wondering if I am just going to have to expand my horizons when it comes to ambiance and settle with a hall of sorts. I love to plan events so I know I could jazz it...

I am trying to find a venue for a 2018 wedding and am having trouble finding something affordable that fits my general "criteria". I'm wondering if I am just going to have to expand my horizons when it comes to ambiance and settle with a hall of sorts. I love to plan events so I know I could jazz it up with decor, but preferably I'd like a venue that naturally is pretty.

Here is what I am looking for in general:

Capacity for 150 guests

Ability to bring my own caterer/food truck

Cost under $3000 (here's hoping Smiley winking )

In the end I really just want an awesome party where I don't have to cut my guest list and enjoy a night with the people we love without breaking the bank too much...but would love to find a space that has some character and ambiance if possible Smiley smile Thanks in advance for the help!

Try Western MD, like closer to the WV border. Drove that way all the time from MoCo to college. It's a beautiful part of the state with the mountains and whatnot Smiley smile

The millstad Center in Joppa, MD the great hall is so pretty and you really do not need much to decorate it ! it was 2,400 but we get to set up day before (friday) and just have to be cleaned up and out by 9am on sunday morning. we are providing our own food but there is a kitchen and buffet area there. and our ceremony will be outside of the great hall for a nice outside ceremony.

Try looking at public golf courses, they tend to be really pretty but not super expensive. I forget the name but there's one up in Harford County that's really nice. Mountain branch.. mountain something I think. Not sure about food policies, though.

I'm in Carroll County and it's not cheap. I was looking for a place that I could do my own catering as my family owns Di Pasquale's and would cater for the wedding. But it was very little that did or way to expensive. I'm now getting married at the Best Western in Westminster and they give you a lot. But unfortunately my family will not be able to cater. Best of luck.

I second Jefferson Patterson Park in Calvert Co.- it's a fantastic value! We would've loved to have ours there but it just wouldn't work for us- the non-sweltering hot weekends were all booked by the time we were looking for a venue Smiley sad

Depending on where you are you could try a fire hall. I called our local one here on the Eastern SHore and it would be $800 for the rental and you get the caterer. If you are near Annapolis, Quiet Waters is a beautilul park. (the wedding date is my daughters........hope it is okay that I posted.)

    Good luck,

    Sandi

You might want to try searching or asking in these groups:

ETA: I just saw that you are open to venues in WV too. Harpers Ferry Event Barn is definitely in your price range. I'm not sure the max capacity, but their pricing is on point:

The Barn at Poor House Farm in Martinsburg, WV is also very affordable:

Try "the other barn" in Columbia. Think it was 1500 for the space and you bring your caterer, booze, etc.

I don't know where you are in Maryland, but my future cousins in law got married in Ceresville Mansion in Frederick. It was gorgeous. No idea what it would cost, but it was beautiful.

Hi! fellow MD bride here. I'm getting married at the Strong Mansion in Dickerson, MD (Frederick County) in September this year. Its 3600 for a Friday or Sunday, 4k for Saturday, and this includes using the site for the rehearsal and the tent, and a DOC. room for up to 170 guests. You can bring your own caterer, the only thing is their kitchen is not set up for full service, only reheating. It's on Sugarloaf Mountain, and their ceremony sites are GORGEOUS! ( you have three to choose from.) It's on the border of Frederick and MoCo. Good luck and happy planning!

Try Smallwood State Park (Charles County) or Robin Hill Farm in Brandywine. There's nothing here in Waldorf that's within your criteria and guest capacity unless you want a fire hall rental.

There were a couple of places that I found that allows you to bring in your own catering.

    -Ten Oaks Ballroom Clarksville, MD

-Clyburn Arboretum Baltimore, MD (I really wanted this one, but it wasn't going to fit 200 people)

-The Other Barn Oakland Mills, MD

    I hope that helps!

There is a venue in Harford County by rocks state park - it’s called Deer Creek Overlook and I believe proceeds go to the 4-H club of Harford County. They are within your budget and allow outside catering. They have a beautiful outside ceremony area and the inside can be decorated really well Smiley smile good luck!

Preston Hall in Baltimore! It's $3,250 for a Saturday afternoon reception. It doesn't need much decoration, and can definitely hold 150 people.

Stepping Stone Farm Museum, Oregon Ridge "The Lodge," Swan Harbor Farms, and these PG County public mansions with tents (http://www.pgelegantsettings.com/Our_Sites.htm) . Good luck!
