Affordable Tux/suits??

Ashley, on September 24, 2018 at 8:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

My fiance groomsmans budget for a suit or tux is around $160. We went to Savvi Formalwear and Mens Warehouse and they were around $240 total for the whole ensemble. Apparently, colors that aren't black are more expensive....

Does anyone have an recommendations to find an affordable suit or tux?? Please help!! Thank you! Smiley smile

I’m not sure if you have access to a tuxedo junction but that’s what we used. The groomsmen paid about $120 for their entire outfit (pants, shoes, shirt, tux, tie etc). My fiancé only had to pay $11 because they typically provide a discount for the groom based on the groomsmen rentals.

It’s a tuxedo rental place that we have here in New York. I’m guessing you may not have one around you. They’re really popular here.

Have you considered ordering from an online rental place? www.menguin.com or www.theblacktux.com or www.generationtux.com? My fiancé is renting his suit from Menguin. He was able to have the suit that he was interested in mailed to the house for an in-home try-on prior to ordering. Once you order, the tux arrives two weeks before the event to make sure that everything still fits right. I think for the tux, shoes, and shirt it was $170. But there were more affordable options as well.

We looked at Men's warehouse and was shocked to find out a suit rental was almost $300 through them. Then we tried generationtux.com and were going to go with them since we found a suit that included everything for $180 - but when I went to finalized the deal after our at home tryon they told me they didn't have that suit in kids sized (my son is 13 and in the wedding). So that nixed that.

I called another local place called Squires and was shocked that their whole suit - pants, jacket, shirt, shoes, and bowtie - were only going to be $145. We are not having vests - except for FH - so his will cost $10 more than the others.

I suggest calling all local suit/tux rental stores to ask their pricing. I never imagined it would vary that much from place to place.

We did GenTux -- you can customize what you want the groomsmen and groom to have in the whole ensemble (we just did suit, shirt, shoes since we are supplying ties, pocket squares, and socks). I am pretty confident it was less than $200. Plus, the groom gets to get his suit rental for free (I think with a certain amount of groomsmen) and try home period. They had more color choices for my FH which helped. Customer service has been AMAZING too!

If it sounds like I don't know much, it's because my FH has been in charge of the his and the men's attire lol.

My FH and I talked about buying A suit instead of renting A tux for the wedding. We found A place where we live that had A BOGO sale. He paid about 240$ for the two suits and he LOVES them! We already had the shirts (thank you, Burlington Coat Factory!) and we ordered ties and vests online.

My husband bought a tux from JC Penny. I think with the vest it came in around $125. We figure he may get to use it again a few times, even if he doesn't it was much cheaper than renting one.

FH bought his suit from Dillards and it was around $140 and he'll definitely wear it again.
