Afraid my dress is too low cut!

So, I’ve gotten my dress back and just got quoted for my alterations. However, one thing I noticed in pictures is that my dress is a lot more low cut looking than I originally thought!!! So, I’ve gotten my dress back and just got quoted for my alterations. However, one thing I noticed in pictures is that my dress is a lot more low cut looking than I originally thought!!! I’m not sure if that’s because the size I tried on was so big on me that I didn’t notice it or what, but now I’m super worried my fiancé is not going to be happy with it :-( he’s rather conservative when it comes to this. I was looking at pictures of wedding dresses recently and he commented that one was too low cut. It seemed similar to mine... cue stomach drop.

what do yall think? Any advice on how to eliminate the low-cut look so it’s not as noticeable? Maybe if I didn’t have push-up cups in the dress to fill the gap? Maybe it’ll fit better once the “straps” (shoulders) are brought up some?

I personally love everything else about this dress (especially the gorgeous back) but now I’m getting so nervous and self-conscious about the cleavage area. Gah!!

It's always different looking down ast the girls because from that angle, you can see more. For everyone else looking at you, it's not going to appear as low.

    Beautiful dress. Congratulations!

Thank you, that’s my thoughts as well, I would want him to take my thoughts and feelings into consideration, as well. But to each his own 😊 I’m hoping bringing the shoulders up will help! I was also trying out filler C push-up cups so perhaps getting them properly fitted into the lining could help, too? Throwing out guesses here haha 🤷🏼‍♀️

That’s a very good point! They are kinda right there in my face 😂😂 thanks for mentioning that! I’ll cross fingers for alterations to give the top a little perk and go from there. And thank you! I had dress regret a few months ago but I’m starting to re-fall in love with my dress again 😜😍

My FH asked me why I looked upset. I told him I was worried he wouldn’t like my dress. He said he would like anything I’m in because it’ll always remind him of that special day going forward. 😍😍 reason #5483 I cant wait to marry this man in front of all our loved ones... tasteful/scandalous/barely-there cleavage or not 😂😂😂

I agree the lace will work if the shoulders don't pull it up enough in your mind d. But it looks good to me.

I had the boutique I got mine from order extra lace for my dress to fill in a bit in the chest area. My dress was also a little more low cut than I was comfortable with and I knew my fiance would appreciate a little more coverage (some things I like to keep for his eyes only but that's our choice together). It was $20 extra for the lace and then the seamstress filled in the gap and it's not noticeable at all and I think the new neckline looks better than the original. Just ask if your seamstress can fill it with extra lace.

I don't think it's too low cut but I understand others might. If you're really worried about it you could always talk to your seamstress about putting a panel in to change the neckline or pull up a stock pic of it and ask your fiance what he thinks about it (obviously without telling him it's yours maybe just say you think it's pretty).

Great idea! Do you have any pictures of how it turned out? I’m not sure how it would work on my dress!

Aww shucks, thank you! 😊 between y’alls reaffirmation, my bridesmaids assurance, and my FH’s happiness if I showed up in a potato sack, I’m feeling much more confident about this dress!

I know what you mean, same here and so many dresses are that way:/ theres nothing wrong with your fiance to want you modest....i think that if you are not used to showing this much then yes you should find a way to make you feel more comfortable because you will be wearing it all day! And thats the last thing you should worry about♡

Now and then I’m ok with wearing a lower top but I feel like there’s a time and place... my bridesmaid made a suggestion to try it on with all my accessories and see if it looks better when all put together. I’m going to cross fingers that between the alterations and trying it on with the veil and jewelry I’ll feel better about it 😜

This isn't low cut at all hun, but I must say that you look gorgeous in this gown. That gap doesn't look bad at all and you look like a classy bride ♥️

I think once the straps are adjusted you will be fine. If you are still concerned about it then you could always add a modesty panel. some mesh, between the cleavage opening.

I'm more on the conservative side and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on you!!! I was also expecting a much lower neckline based on your title. I agree though with others that it may be a tad higher once alterations are complete, but if you still feel it's a little low, the seamstress should be able to add a small piece of material to the neckline to bring it up, but I really think it's fine.

Also it's youre wedding, but it's TO HIM, so I wouldn't listen to people who say that you shouldn't care what he thinks. If you hated something that he loved - I wouldn't put his happiness over yours, but it should definitely be a factor in your decision.

Congrats on your wedding and beautiful dress!!!

I understand as I come from a conservative background as well...... I think if you have the straps raised a bit.....the little bit of concern will be gone...... no worries....any good alterations gal can fix that!

    the dress is beautiful!
