Afraid my dress is too low cut!

So, I’ve gotten my dress back and just got quoted for my alterations. However, one thing I noticed in pictures is that my dress is a lot more low cut looking than I originally thought!!! So, I’ve gotten my dress back and just got quoted for my alterations. However, one thing I noticed in pictures is that my dress is a lot more low cut looking than I originally thought!!! I’m not sure if that’s because the size I tried on was so big on me that I didn’t notice it or what, but now I’m super worried my fiancé is not going to be happy with it :-( he’s rather conservative when it comes to this. I was looking at pictures of wedding dresses recently and he commented that one was too low cut. It seemed similar to mine... cue stomach drop.

what do yall think? Any advice on how to eliminate the low-cut look so it’s not as noticeable? Maybe if I didn’t have push-up cups in the dress to fill the gap? Maybe it’ll fit better once the “straps” (shoulders) are brought up some?

I personally love everything else about this dress (especially the gorgeous back) but now I’m getting so nervous and self-conscious about the cleavage area. Gah!!

I don't think it's too low cut. It looks great! If it bothers you too much look into a lace or similar trim to bring it up.

Thank you so much for the kind words Smiley smile Smiley heart I've slept on it and I feel a bit better about it today. I think I'm going to wait to get anxious until they've taken up the shoulder straps and I can see the bust closer to my body like it should be.

Gah, that's so comforting to hear! Perhaps it's just me. It's so funny, I never used to be worried about modesty when it came to the girls and showing them off or not, but in the past few years I've opted for higher necklines and cold shoulders or open backs rather than cleavage. Having someone who is trying to shy away from the same focal point give this kind of feedback makes me feel a lot more confident that it's OK and won't shock any of his conservative family. Thank you, thank you! Smiley heart

Lol y'all are helping ease the anxiety SO much, you have no idea. I did feel better after sleeping on it and glimpsing at the picture again. I just need to get used to it I suppose and see where it comes out after the alterations!

I'm anti-cleavage for wedding dresses and I do not think this is too low cut.

I love your dress I think it’s gorgeous! Im sure you’ll feel 100% confident once all your alterations are finished, not that you shouldn’t feel confident already! I plan on showing some cleavage for the big day cause why not.

Ok perfect! Your insight is the most helpful because my fiancé and most of his family are anti-cleavage. They're from the Middle East and their culture/customs are just a bit more conservative than my family's, so just want to be respectful and mindful! Thank you for your feedback Smiley smile

Thank you so much for the kind words! Smiley smile Smiley heart I'm getting anxious to wear this baby already and it's not even fitted! I can't wait till the veil is steamed and hair done and what-not. Now I just have to figure out what necklace (if any) pairs well!

You're so sweet. Thank you so much! Smiley heart I lost 46 lbs in the past year and KNEW I wanted to rock a sheath dress if I possibly could on my wedding day.... now I just have to try to keep away from the bread and brownies until June! Lol! Smiley laugh

Ask about adding a modesty panel. If you use lace it could possible look like part of the dress Smiley smile I think it’s beautiful the way it is but I also felt a lot of dresses were too low cut when I tried them on

I think your dress is gorgeous and you can really see how much you love it in your face. I understand the conservative thing, you don't want him to see you can not love the way you look that day. I would talk to the person doing alterations and see what they would suggest. I think that's your best course of action

I had the same reaction to my dress when I saw the *cleavage* in the mirror, and my initial thought was that it was way too revealing, but even my mom said it was fine - I think it's less scandalous than you think it is. She showed me the picture I had brought of the original dress on the model - same amount of cleavage but I hadn't even seen it as low cut - when it's you, and it's a bit of a change to what you normally see yourself in, it's going to look overly dramatic. But you look gorgeous and it's definitely not too much!

That's a very good way to look at it! The model for the dress is definitely showing some skin in that area, but oddly enough her boobs don't have those creased cleavage lines like mine do, if that makes sense lol Smiley laugh

My mom did make one comment about the dress neckline when we got the dress in, but she knows how conservative my FH and his customs are, so I think she was just worried like I was. I never thought of it the way you put it, though! Crossing fingers!

I love this dress! I wouldn’t worry about the too low cut- I know I’ll be the same way with my fiancé- I want to make him happy! The difference between the every day bride and Pinterest models or just models in general is that we don’t come airbrushed or with massively padded bras! I’m more conservative and so is my FH but I don’t think this is bad! Once your straps fit right and everything is fitted I don’t think it will even be this low! Adding minimal stick-ons and not a push up will help too Smiley smile it looks lovely Smiley smile 💕
