After party at the hotel

bridetobe, on April 2, 2016 at 12:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

What do you all think? Eh I'm whatever about it. My FMIL is asking me if I got beer and stuff for it. She has a lot of her extended family stay at the hotel so she wants to have an after party. Would you guys go? Idk I'm indifferent

It will probably just happen organically if everyone is staying at the same hotel. I don't think this is something you need to plan. If she wants to party, she can/may very likely pick up beer and wine.

I agree with Kristy. FMIL wants an after party she can worry about it.

My mom wants to plan an afterparty. being NYE and that our reception is over at 12:30, i feel like people are going to want to go out downtown after. I think we'll just take whatever we have leftover from the bar (we are supplying our own alcohol) and order some pizzas for anyone who ends up back at the hotel.

Aren't you going to be exhausted? Maybe you and your new husband will want private time.

My sister just attended one, in the hotel suite of the FOB. It lasted all of a half hour. Everyone was tired, after a long day, and after 5 hours of open bar, no one wanted to drink any more.

Id LOVE to have alone time with my husband, and sleep bc I'll be so tired. But FMIL said we have to hang out with guests after. It's only her family from out of town who is staying, but it's like 40 people.

We are having an informal afterparty spread via word of mouth since we won't be covering the costs. I don't think it's necessary to host it if you don't want to...if anyone wants to keep partying, they can do so in their own rooms or in the hotel/local bar.

You absolutely don't HAVE to entertain guests after. Thats ridiculous.

I did join guests after my wedding at the hotel, but there shouldn't be any reason why you have to. If you want to - by all means. Im sure people will understand if you are not present!

I was exhausted after our wedding. But DH and my MOH and some of our OOT family stayed up and hung out late into the night.

Since my wedding is a Sunday and it's over at 9:00pm, we are still going to have a small after party in the lobby of the hotel we are staying at! I think it'll be a great time!

I attended one at my cousins wedding, it was really fun. They had pizza, wings, and cash bar. I was exhausted and stayed for a drink then went to bed, however I think people stayed until the bar closed (it was hosted in the bar area of the hotel). The bride and groom did not attend, They also had breakfast the next day for everyone staying at the hotel. I really hope my family does not compare my wedding to theirs, we don't have the money to do all of that!

I think it depends on the situation and how many OOT guests you have. We're having a destination wedding, so we are doing an after party in our hotel suite. We know not everyone will want to come, but we wanted the option there for those who do.

I just got done looking at the hotel we're probably doing our room blocks. Their bar is awesome and it's open til 2am. If we decide to go with them, our guests are free to head to the bar after the reception. We will probably head there. We're not formally hosting an after party though.
